A knitting quiz

I notice on Alissa’s blog she has a knitting quiz that I thought I’d join in with.

MY SILLY KNITTING QUIZ

1. Share an image of a knitting pattern you love but would probably never knit.

I’d love my own Dolores, but the kits, international shipping and import duties makes it too costly.  Oh and I’d make a Harry too. I have to make do with following the ones made on the Quite a Yarn blog.  This kit seems ideal for the UK rainy weather, and is called Transatlantic Travel!  Available at WEBS in the USA.

2. What is your favorite knitting technique?  Hmm I only know the basics really, I like cables and the look of moss stitch variations.

3. Yarn: wool, alpaca, cotton, linen, hemp, silk, or acrylic?  Wool…although I love my Yak and Baby Camel items.

4. Needles: wood, bamboo, metal, plastic, or casein?  Wood

5. Would you go on a knitting vacation? If yes, which country’s yarn shops would you like to visit?   Yes, there’s a company doing knitting cruises around the Baltics.  Some have gone to North Germany, Estonia, Russia, Finland and Copenhagen.  Next summer it is going to Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Russia, Lithuania, Sweden and Finland! Cruises aren’t usually my thing but this is very appealing.  Perhaps when I’m 50 it will be an excuse, although I’m going to Florence that year too!  2022!

6. Lace, fingering, sport, DK, worsted, or bulky? (If you had to choose just one)  hmmmmmm Aran, which I think is similar to Worsted or Heavy DK.

7. Do you eat while knitting? If so, what?   I’m peri menopausal, I eat constantly it seems…usually sugary carbs!  Oops!

8. Speckled yarn: yes or no?  Depends, I like the ones Cookston Crafts has dyed and love my socks I knit with some of hers.  I haven’t bought anyone else’s speckled yarn though.

9. Favorite knitting slang word?  Knitflix

10. Can you do anything else while knitting? Watching or listening to something doesn’t count.  Nope, well except eat but definitely not read.

11. Favorite knitting pattern designer?  Heidi Kirrmaier, although her patterns can be a challenge to understand I think they are worth it.

12. Favorite yarn brand?  Rowan for major company, Cookston Crafts or Ripple Crafts for local indie dyers.

13. Intentional felting: yes or no?  Not yet tried with knitting.

14. Who taught you to knit?  YouTube and Google

15. What’s your next knit?  When I’ve finished my jumper and socks there’s a jumper called Strathcona using Rowan Big Wool I want to make as it seems to take just 3 days!
