Dyeing
Having done no dyeing for ages, I dyed up some of the wool from Roxy the sheep. One of the blue dyes split a bit and has some yellow blobs in it!? The dyes are Kraftcolour Landscape Dyes. I’ve run out of my sky blends for lampshades, so wanted to dye some blues and some earth tones. I’ll probably dye some green shades later today.
Felting
I hand felted 3 landscape lampshades. I’ve added some more silks to the process to give a bit of shine. These are all 25cm shades, rather than the 20cm ones I’ve previously sold. I have made 2 as pendant lights and 1 as a lamp, once made they are not adjustable and if people don’t read the labels they will have upside down sheep!! On one I’ve added some purple silk waste to look like heather, the other two have some orange for bracken.
Knitting
I finished Such a Winter’s Day. Yipee!! I wore it on Saturday with a light rain coat over (not zipped up) and was plenty warm enough in 7°C. I think it will be perfect for hanging around the house without the heating needing to be on during the day. I’m okay with all the mistakes made. It’s all part of learning. I finished it in the morning and left it on all day, I will need to sew the collar and hem to stop it curling I think, would I do that in the same yarn or some tacking cotton?? Not sure.

Other News
Billy’s transplant went well earlier in the week and both he and the donor looked well post op. Billy was taken to ICU after a small set back but they believe that is sorted now, so hopefully he and the hero of a donor will recover well over the coming months. Thank you everyone for the positive thoughts and prayers.
One of my friends came over on Tuesday and brought me some lovely Shetland fibre she’d dyed up but was proving not colourfast enough to spin, it will be perfect for needle felting though or adding to some sky coloured blends.
On Wednesday I went to the Guild Committee Meeting and, as Allistar couldn’t look after our dog, I took Ylva along. She was only about 12” from me tied to a table but she cried and wined pretty solidly for over 3 hours!!!!!!! So embarrassing. I tried comforting her, giving her treats, ignoring her. I know she’s a wreck when left alone but she could see me!! I wish when you re-home a dog you are able to get more information about their past life, to understand why in Ylva’s case she hates other dogs, children and now committee meetings! An experience not to be repeated and Allistar will have to work from home next time. The ladies on the committee were so kind and saying don’t worry, but I felt like I was the mother of a child having a screaming tantrum for 3 hours+. Don’t get me wrong though, I love her more than I’ve ever loved anything.
I watched all of the new series of The Crown whilst knitting, dyeing and felting. I cried quite a lot, probably my hormones, I cry at the slightest thing at the moment. I felt sorry for Princess Margaret and Prince Charles in the previous season, even more so now.
Next week I need to finish my Christmas socks if they are to be included in Amy’s KAL, also I need to finish making my Smitten Mitten Advent Garland so Allistar can pop a chocolate in each one! If I knit 2 mittens a day I can do it!

You accomplished quite a bit this week. I always love your sheep lampshades. They are just adorable. Your dyed Roxie is quite nice and you now have some lovely colors to work with. Poor Ylva. She just wanted to be right by your side. Probably the fact she was tethered made her a bit fearful.

Yes, but how awesome was the actress who played Princess Anne! She stole all the scenes! So sorry about the pup….hopefully the separation anxiety will come down.

Oooh… beautiful dyed fibers! And your newest lampshades are just wonderful. So glad that your friend, Billy is doing well. I binged on the third season of The Crown last week when I wasn’t feeling well. The timing of its release sure was perfect for me. 🙂 Hope you have a good week, Liz!

Your dyed fiber and your lampshades look amazing! So glad Billy and donor are doing well! Poor Ylva – and poor you! That has to be difficult to deal with for both of you. Hopefully she will eventually calm down a little?

Your lampshades are gorgeous! Poor Ylva…..and you…..I’ve had a lot of rescue animals but none with that issue. Although I do have a very needy cat which bothers me at times. I’m independent and I expect my animals to be also! LOL!
So happy to hear the transplant was a success for both involved. Your dying is beautiful and so glad you are enjoying your sweater.

I am glad the transplant went well. Hooray for that and the kindness of strangers. Your winter’s day looks great – perfect fit. Well done on all your dyeing and felting. Poor puppy, but I am glad Ylva had a patient you to care for her. We just finished the Crown as well. Poor Charles – I understand him much better now I think. Can’t wait for the next season – I imagine it will be all about Diana.
