Another week has flown by!
Felting
Well it seems a bit cheeky classing this as felting, but I did throw the bag, straps and loop into the washer on 2 short 60°C washes (with towels) to felt them. I’ve now sewn the parts together so it is a useable bag! I probably could have felted them more, as there is a bit of stretch still in the straps and bag, but I tend to only carry a small purse, keys and phone, so nothing too heavy. When my sewing machine is fixed I may make a lining for it. I realised when I finished it, that out of the 6 handbags I own, 5 of them are this burgundy type colour!!!!

Knitting
I have been resisting the urge to cast on something new, as Allistar is still waiting on his hat, that was supposed to be for Christmas. I’m now just following the Two by two pattern and about to start the decreases. It looks very long but he wants it to cover his ears fully and have a folded brim.
Spinning
I hadn’t done any spinning for months, so I thought I better have a little practice before I attend a Spin to Weave workshop on Sunday (tomorrow). So on Friday, I gave my wheel an oil and did a small amount of BFL/Seacell fibre spinning and then did a bit of chain ply practice.
The Spin to Weave workshop I’ll talk more about next week.
Other News
This week I reorganised the study/craft room again. I moved my storage shelving out of the wardrobe and moved my desk under the window. This has enabled me to put some of the storage boxes with some of the shop stock in and my dyeing box in and now I don’t need to move things around in order to access anything.
The only issue now is there’s still an old super king sized mattress leaning against 3 out of 4 of the mirrored wardrobe sliding doors, which a) stops it being as light in there and b) makes me feel bad I’ve not arranged for collection yet! We’ve had weeks of rain and you need to get it to the curb for collection and it weighs a ton and our driveway is uphill from the house to the curb…excuses excuses!
I also now have got all the Guild papers organised and accounts up to date and some other paperwork done, so it has been a more organising/administrative week than a creative one.
Last week I mentioned about the Dracula mini series, well it was a joint BBC and Netflix production, so in the USA it is available on Netflix. I re-watched episode 3 this week!

It is easy to spin, has a lovely sheen to it, I’m hoping to spin some yarn for making socks with it and will then be able to see how robust it is.

The bag came out fantastic! Nothing wrong with burgandy……and I’ve been organizing my Yarn Loft, but had some health issues, so it’s just in a state of disrepair right now…However, since it’s also my dressing room, I’ve had to shove things around this week, as it was back to work….

Alistar is a very patient man. You are lucky. But…………..the felted bag is so pretty and so necessary! I am sure he understands. Right? It will be nice to hear about your spin weave workshop. Your spinning fiber looks quite nice. Will there be both spinning and weaving done at the workshop? Weaving is something I have long admired. Just think, if there is ever a zombie apocalypse, you could shear your animals, spin their ‘hair’ into fiber and turn the fiber into fabric. Your talents would be very much sought after!

Well done with felting. I guess burgandy is your colour. I often notice at my knit group that many of us are knitting with the same colour we are wearing! I too have to get back to spinning. Not today though, today I want to finish my shawl. I also need to rearrange, or re tidy my craft/study. It gets away on me quite readily! Thanks for the push – maybe today, what with being snowy outside and all.

I love that bag! I’d like to do one in orange and gray which are my daughter’s favorite colors. It turned out awesome! I like the hat for Alistair too. I’m already looking at things with an eye for next Christmas. Good for you with all you’ve gotten done this week!

The bag is great! I’d call that felting! That’s pretty much how I’ve done it. 🙂 I agree that burgundy must be your color. I’ve done that with shades of blue and purple. I finish and realize I’ve already made something nearly the same color. Oh… most of the walls in all the houses we’ve lived in have been the same basic color (I mean, you can paint on top of the old and not tell any appreciative difference). Beige-a-vu I’ve dubbed it. 🙂 I’ve decided it must be my (wall) color, so I’m owning it.
