Two colour brioche – first attempt

In April 2019 I bought a brioche pattern to attempt and have been procrastinating for a long time before having a go.

Today I finally started it!

The pattern is Cabriolet by Carolyn Bloom. The pattern has an option for a 4 skein shawl or 2 skein scarf, so I’m making the scarf option.

My yarns are both from Cookston Crafts, the Emerald is 60% merino, 20% silk and 20% yak and the Crathie (speckled yarn) is 60% merino, 20% nylon and 20% alpaca! What a combination! Even if I do say so myself!!! 😂

It has an iCord edge at the start and having done 8 rows (or is that classed as 4 rows?) I realised I’ve made the iCord too tight and also noticed a hole from a dropped yarn over. Rather than carry on and regret it later (like I’ve done on other projects and still get annoyed I didn’t go back and fix it) I have ripped it out!

In the background I had an episode of Midsomer Murders on and have absolutely no idea what the storyline was, who was murdered and who did it!!! This brioche takes a lot of my brain, so I’ll start the new version tomorrow. I also will be putting in a lot of safety lines in, I’m basically thinking every 4 (or is that 2) rows will have one!

Have you been procrastinating about starting something?

  1. I see what you mean about the cast on, but the brioche itself looks really great! I procrastinated on knitting brioche for a long time myself, but once I jumped in I was like “why have I waited so long??!” I LOVE how squishy it is

  2. Yummy…..love those 2 colors together. Yak and alpaca combos. You will be super warm with that wrapped around you.

I am procrastinating doing the second half of a “sweater” for the past 5 yrs.
