Knitting

I’ve made some progress on Tailfeather, not a huge amount which I’ll explained why later.  But here it is on Saturday evening, it’s too long to show it laid out now.  I really love the colours in this yarn and it has a nice sheen to it.  I hope we get a warm enough summer to wear it.

Weaving

This week I signed up to Kelly Casanova Weaving Lessons online, just before the prices increased.  So that is where most of my time has gone.  I have already watched quite a few of the tutorials and when I watched her ‘From Woe to Go’ beginners weaving course I realised the way I’d warped my loom with cotton a few weeks ago could be a lot better.  So I have been carefully unwinding all the warp!  I’m so glad it had been threaded double and so no ends had been cut.  So although a bit time consuming it is unravelling and I’m nearly done!

Before anyone get’s excited about this quilt, it was bought not made by me. 😀

So, I’m excited to get started on some new projects with my newly learned skills.  Still lots more classes to do so that will likely be my next few weeks.  Some courses I can knit whilst watching, but some need more attention.

I mentioned last week I’d ordered some second reeds for my loom in 3 sizes (10dpi, 12.5dpi and 15dpi), well the company, Fibrehut, issued a refund for the size 10dpi as they were out of stock, so I ordered that from the Handweavers Studio (with some more cotton thread!) and that arrived super quick yay!  However, I’m still waiting on the reeds I ordered from the original company!

If the reeds had all arrived I may not have signed up for the course, so hopefully my next weaving will be better.  If they don’t arrive Monday then I’m going to warp up for a smaller project using thicker yarn.

Did I own up last week to ordering a cone of Lilys Sugar’n Cream yarn to weave some teatowels?  That also hasn’t arrived yet, but Covid is causing all sorts of delays and so I just need to be patient and not want to do all the new ideas straight away!

Other News

Well lockdown continues here and I’m pretty used to our routine but still look forward to when we can get back to some more exciting walks with the dog.  Thank goodness for the lambs entertaining us.  I made some banana bread this week that was so good it was gone by the end of the next day!  Allistar and I have been doing some yoga every morning, 30 mins on weekdays and an hour a day  at the weekends (and on Friday which was a bank holiday for VE day).  I did get some gardening done this week as well and caught up with friends on calls and went to a virtual quiz night on Thursday which was a lot of fun.  The weather is turning much colder this week so I will be carrying on with the weaving course, getting my loom warped and starting on a new project.

  3. I had to chuckle when you wrote “I hope the summer is warm enough to wear it”. Here I am wishing the summer was cooler so I could wear my shawls in the evening. The Tail Feather shawl is gorgeous. I do love the color you have chosen for it. But then Purple is one of my all time favorite colors. Your weaving class sounds like it might have already paid for itself if you have found the best way to warp the loom.

    I was thinking “Wow, she is so talented to have quilted that bedspread” But then you go and burst my bubble. LOL It is pretty none the less.

  5. Before you called my attention to the quilt, I was looking worriedly about all that yarn you were unraveling. That looks like a challenge to keep straight. I just read Mary-Anne’s comment above – that is kind of my thinking, too! I look forward to see what you share with us that you’re going to learn from the online course. Fun! And now that I’m looking at the quilt, it’s pretty! 🙂
