YOP10 Week 11/52 – an almost craftless week

Most of this week has been sat at my desk doing paperwork, end of year accounts, zoom meetings for the Guild and the camera club. So that ate up all my time and energy, so this is my least productive crafting week for probably 3 years!

Crochet

Not much progress made on my Havana so I’ll leave doing a photo until next week.

Felting

In case you missed it, I did a post about my fairies on Monday, with how I make them and some photos of the latest batch.

Sewing

I made a new face mask for myself, using the same pattern but some lighter coloured fabric.

Other News

I received a voucher for Hobbycraft from my neighbour’s mum, as a thank you for the items I made with their dog’s hair. So I went this week and spent 3x the voucher value (oops!) on various bits and bobs that will come in handy in various crafts and gift making.

Our home phone has literally rung more times in the last week than it has in the last 4 years. As an introvert I am not a fan of the phone and I’ve had calls before I’m dressed, during meals and when it’s late evenings this week, those on top of Zoom calls…I am ready for a lie down in a dark room to recharge.

I did manage to get to the hairdressers for the first time since February and had a trim and some long layers put in so my hair isn’t so heavy, but it’s still long enough to poke out of my hats, now we are getting back to hat wearing weather yay! I’m glad I got it done as the social distancing rules change again on Monday which is restricting things further.

Next week I’m hoping to have lots of crafting time and recharging my introvert batteries. Other than the AGM for camera club on Monday I’m planning to craft pretty much all day everyday next week. So apologies this has been photoless and word heavy. Next week should be better.

This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 10th year, but this is my 3rd year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry.

  1. I’ve had a quiet week also on the crafting front. I no longer feel in a rush to finish something in one day like I used to do. Now it takes 2 or more days. It is nice to have a break and do other things. I need a haircut also as I haven’t had one since December! I cut my fringe a bit too short last time and need it to grow out some before I dare go to the hairdressers! haha!

  2. ha ha, the effect of freebies! How come all those calls? You know, I have to have a fixed telephone line as otherwise I could not have broadband (though I think now there are companies that offer broadband without phone), but I don’t even know my own home phone number – I couldn’t empathise more!

  3. We are getting ready for elections here so our phone calls are all political in nature. I am getting pretty good at hanging up on them. How come you are going into further restrictions? Are your numbers climbing rapidly? Sounds like your little shopping trip was fun. Will be fun to see what things you purchased.

    • Not rapidly but they’ve been climbing in the younger age groups and they are prioritising schools and employment over socialising. The R number is above 1. So it’s now only 6 people who can get together from 2 households. Oh we never ever get political phone calls thank goodness. Maybe there’s a law against it here, not sure but I’m grateful for that. But I do wonder what’s wrong with people emailing, what’s worse is if people ask me to do something on the phone the odds are I’ll forget what it was. At least with email I may remember.

  4. No need to apologize. We all need time to recharge. I’m off work next week, and can’t even begin to tell you how grateful I am for that. Thursday, the new clothing line will hit our store, so there will be a lot of phoning customers to invite them and even more rearranging in the store to do, and I’m really glad I don’t have to be part of it. I can’t stand all the noise and stress.

  5. When I had a house phone (15 years ago), I just turned off the ringer and let everything go to voicemail. Then returned calls to anyone I wanted to talk to. Now that I just have a cell phone, I never answer a call from a number I don’t know. Mostly because I’m not interested in scam calls.

  6. My gosh – busy week! Glad you were able to get your hair cut. I keep missing our windows of time where things are less restrictive, then just when appointments open up, everything shuts down again. Hoping for a craftier week for you next week!

  7. Oh my, what a busy week. I hear you about phone calls and zoom meetings leaving you the need to recharge. Your fairies are so ethereal. At least once all the paperwork is done you can relax a wee bit, yes? I haven’t been to the hair salon since February either. Or maybe even January! While working on the camper on Saturday I put it into two little pony tails – cute! lol
