Oooh it is nearly Christmas and Santa will be here shortly bringing me new yarn and fibre! Someone has been feeling their parcels? Who me? 😂

For anyone who missed my Part 1 post with details of the 1st 12 yarns click here. This is a DK 24 x 10g mini set and 1 x 100g contrasting skein.

Colours are:

13. Cliffside
14. Seal (We get common seals and grey seals around our coast. My husband and I call them bananas, as when they are perched on rocks with their head and tail up the are banana shaped.)
15. Midgie (the tiny biting insect smaller than a mosquito and loves damp warm days and hikers to munch on. We get some on the east coast where we live but the west coast is famous for zillions of them.)
16. Saltire (the name of Scotland’s national flag. Also known as the St. Andrew’s Cross 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 (For my friends abroad, the 🇬🇧 Union Flag is made up of England St. George 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 , Scotland St. Andrew 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and Northern Ireland St. Patrick (no emoji but a bit like 🇯🇪) flags. Wales still comes under the Union Flag, but their own flag 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 I guess didn’t fit with the theme?? That’s a red dragon in case it’s too small to see.)
17. Dreich (the Scot’s word for a dark, cloudy, damp days weather. ‘It’s lookin’ awful dreich oot there’ is a sentence I used to hear a colleague say a lot.)
18. North Sea (the sea off the east coast, between Scotland and Europe. I suspect the red dots are to indicate the lights on the oil rigs or tankers in the North Sea)
19. Greyfriar’s Bobby (a dog who is said to have spent 14 years guarding its owners grave. There’s a statue in Edinburgh, plenty on the internet about him or perhaps you’ve seen a movie about him.)
20. Heather Glen (Scotland is famous for its purple heather on the hills late August and early September. A Glen is a valley with gently sloping sides, nearby we have some stunning ones like Glen Affric. The Great Glen goes straight through Scotland from coast to coast and has Loch Ness and many other lochs at its base. Here’s a link to a nice example photo of a heather glen.)
21. Thistle (a wild flower and a popular symbol used by the Scots)
22. Wild raspberry
23. Cranachan (a Scottish dessert with fresh cream, oats, raspberries and whisky).
24. Scottish suntan (as in you don’t get one here lol)

(I had a problem with WordPress and Day 16 Saltire is missing but shown below on full box.) It also had some lovely wooden buttons in today’s window.

I will open the contrast full skein tomorrow as it is something to unwrap. But sharing this post today.
