YOP10 Week 37/52 – Covid jab week

Knitting

I made a bit of progress on my Fine Sand cardigan. It’s so funny when I start knitting a garment I think ‘this is going fast’ then once you have a bunch of the increases in you remember how long the rows get haha. Late Saturday I popped it on a longer cord so that I can check length as I’m 2 rows away from splitting for the arms and quite often with Heidi’s patterns I have to go down a bit further.

I also made a bit of progress on my socks, but I’m only on the gusset decreases so it’s going very slow.

Sewing

Thanks to everyone who gave me tips on my sewing turning into big knotted tangles. I haven’t done any sewing this week to try it.

Spinning

We had a very interesting talk at our Guild about fleece preparation which I’m looking forward to putting into practice!

In the afternoon we had our spinning social group but as I’m the Zoom host it seems impossible to get much spinning done. There’s spinning group on Tuesday evening and I should get more done there hopefully.

Other News

I don’t know where this week went! I did quite a lot of cooking, which I don’t enjoy!

I had my Covid vaccine on Thursday and that resulted in me having a snoozy pyjama sofa day on Friday. I knit 2 rows on my cardigan but really wasn’t feeling well enough to knit so just watched TV and snoozed. (By Saturday morning I was fine). I watched Behind Her Eyes mini-series on Netflix which I enjoyed. (I still recommend everyone check out Your Honor on Sky in UK and I think Showtime in US. Ooh it’s good, so tense.

I have started to listen to a book called The Procrastination Cure 🤣😂. We shall see how effective this is!

This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 10th year, but this is my 3rd year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry.

    • I managed to search it and watch it. I am definitely that person he describes. I remember revising for my GCSEs and deciding that was an important time to sharpen every pencil, rearrange my study space, organise my socks….nowadays I just keep reorganizing and rearranging my craft room and cataloguing things on Ravelry. Thanks for sharing.

  1. So glad your jab only caused one day of laziness. It is a small price to pay to be protected from something that could be much worse. Your cardi is a great color and will go with everything. What length will you be making the sleeves? I have seen it done in 3/4, bracelet and long sleeves.

  2. Congrats on getting your vaccine. I still have to wait at least 2 more weeks till I get back north. My northern knitting friends have all had at least their first shot so I expect we will be meeting in person soon. That yarn does look lovely. I have not knit with Alpaca so it definitely needs to be one of my 2022 goals. Glad you were only down for a day.

  3. Congratulations on getting your vaccinations! Glad you only had one down day – I know people are often getting pretty sick after the second shot. But its worth it 🙂 Your sweater is looking great!

  4. That yarn you’re knitting Fine Sand with is gorgeous, Liz. Pretty color, and it looks so incredibly soft. My hubs got his second Moderna shot on Friday and he had no side effects, but he rarely does. I get my second Pfizer on the 22nd and since I was made tired and a bit achey by the first one, I’m preparing myself to have a snoozy pj day after the second one. 🙂

  5. I slept a lot after my shots….you did good! Happy belated anniversary. I love your sweater and the yarn looks so wonderful. I think I need to watch the procrastination film or one on how to get more energy. I’m usually not a procrastinator but I do get so tired that I can’t keep going. I hope you’re able to get more spinning in this week! Take care!

    • The main tip from the book was to stop multitasking so I’m giving it a go this week. Also turning off notifications and setting time slots for checking social media and sticking to them and no clicking on any links.
