YOP11 Week 26/52 – Mid-YOP Year Review

It’s a good job I had this already drafted, because I haven’t really done much this week other than add some rows to my husband’s socks and my jumper. I got one craft related present which is The Weaver’s Inkle Pattern Directory by Anne Dixon. I’m excited to try some of the Monk’s Belt patterns once I finish my current project.

I hope you had a nice Christmas Day if you celebrate it.

For those of us who are following the traditional YOP year timescale, we have now reached the mid-year point. Each quarter I like to take a snapshot of how things are going. So today’s post has my snapshot and a few comments in italics.

Key:
↪ carried over from a previous YOP year
✳️ started
✅ finished
🆕 added to list after week 1
⁉️ fell at a hurdle but back on track

NB. There are links to the Ravelry pattern, yarn or project page.

Acquisitions/Stash Management

  • No new superwash sock yarns (My stash has enough to make socks for many years.) ⁉️ Originally this was no new superwash and I amended it to sock yarn after buying a jumper quantity of malabrigo yarn! But I realise superwash just isn’t as warm as non-superwash so I’m going back to it being no new superwash! I was (surprise) gifted some superwash 4 ply. I also accidentally bought a DK skein I thought wasn’t super-wash.
  • Contain my stash! (Limit stash to only what will fit in existing containers (Kallax unit, fibre divider boxes and weaving shelves) and have no overflow containers or bags, only exception to be hand processed Shetland X fleece.). ⁉️ This is not going well incoming fibre has exceeded outgoing the last 6 months. I need to get felting!
  • Buy yarn for a larger Havana only once I have made space for it! This is hopefully going to keep me motivated to use existing stash for everything else. I’m thinking I should use handspun and not buy yarn but we shall see.

  1. Just WOW!! That’s a lot accomplished at the half year point. Congratulations! You do so many different things. I’m just not that crafty. Ha Ha, that stash management is always a major hurdle. So many pretty yarns. You will see in my next week’s post that “queuing” my stash is a major goal for 2022 so that I better know exactly what I have and how long it will take to knit it into projects before buying any more yarn (no matter how much it’s on sale).

  2. With my locality’s mild winters, Superwash’s “not quite as warm” properties an asset! But on our coldest, dampest, windiest days, I DO find myself reaching for the least processed, wooliest wool knits I have!

Congrats on making such progress on your YOP goals!

  3. You got so much done! Maybe if I kept track as you do it might work for me! LOL! I like your keys for your project status. I don’t think I can get that on blogger but I might be able to figure something out. This week I am going to revisit my YOP plans and get back on track…I hope! Happy New Year!

  5. I do so love these “summary” posts – it’s really fun to see how much you can accomplish in a relatively short timeframe and you have definitely been productive! Hope you had a good holiday weekend and here’s to a great 2022 for you as well!

  6. You completed quite a few projects. The fact you have so many different areas of crafting makes it so interesting to read your blog. It will be fun to see how much more you complete in the next quarter of the YOP.

  7. I love reading your progress and plans. and of course there needs to be time for SUP! I envy your ability to have so many things on the go. I am very monogamous. And currently as of December 30,th 2021 I have NOTHING on needles and I am not sure even what I want to cast on. LOL. I am sure by tonight I will have started something. Happy New Year, and I am so looking forward to following your spinning/felting/knitting/weaving/painting/etc in 2022.
