Acquisitions

I have a pattern to sew a top from handwoven fabric, but I thought before I make that I should try to make one out of some normal fabric to practice. So I ordered some tracing paper, to copy the pattern onto, some floral fabric, some bias tape to match the fabric and another one to match the fabric I’ll weave. I also bought some interfacing but realise I bought sew-on not iron-on, but think this will be ok for the commercial fabric.

I also ordered some yellow, white, blue and black cotton yarn! This is going to be a Minion themed tablet weaving band on my new inkle loom 😁

Felting

Well its definitely all been about felting this week. On Monday I laid out fibres for some 20cm, 25cm and my first 35cm lampshade.

I decided to do them all with the Highland seascapes, with a plan to do some landscapes next week. What I hadn’t realised is that’s me now totally out of stock of 20cm and 25cm shade kits. So I only have 2 x 35cm and 3 x 40cm kits left. For these I’m thinking of doing something slightly different.

Anyway, yesterday I dropped off the 3 x 20cm, 2 x 25cm and 1 x 35cm shades at the Alchemist Gallery in Dingwall. (Just off the North Coast 500 route if you are passing.)

I will order some new stock once the company get back to me with a quote for a bespoke pack. I’m going to try a couple of new things as well…more about that in a future post.

I hyperlapse recorded me laying out the fibres, felting and constructing one of the shades and I just need to edit those together.

Knitting

My hands get tired from felting so not a huge amount of progress on my jumper. I’m still knitting the body. Trying to do at least 1 stripe a day.

Other News

There hasn’t been much time for anything else, but I did meet a friend for a dog walk with her puppy. Ylva doesn’t like most dogs but is often ok with puppies. She was really well behaved and only growled when he jumped up on her side which is fair enough. I kept her muzzle on as she can’t be trusted.
