YOP12 Week 16/52 – Juniper bag FO and SAWD progress.

Knitting

Jumpers/cardigans

When I have time to sit down and knit I have just been working on my 2nd Such a Winter’s Day jumper. The progress keeper shows my progress since last week.

Sewing

I finished my Juniper Basket project bag and there’s a separate post with details and more photos. I am definitely getting more confidence in sewing, but still making the odd mistake.

A while ago I bought the Serena Sews book which I thought would be good for beginners but it isn’t basic enough, also the patterns in there are for young people who like to bare a lot of skin! Does anyone have a sewing book or beginner sewing blogger on YouTube they recommend?

Other News

I did another post during the week asking whether people repeat the same pattern and I’ve shared some of my most repeated patterns, so if you missed that post please have a look and feel free to comment with your answer on what you prefer.

Guild paperwork basically took up the rest of the week, struggling with a PayPal issue at the moment which is frustrating.

This is a Year of Projects post.  Officially the Group is in its 12th year, but this is my 5th year participating.  If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry.

Year 12 list.

  1. LOVE your Juniper Basket bag. Much more complicated than my simple no pockets zippered bag. The fabrics you used are so fun!! It’s got to be so fun to use it. It looks terrific. You have made a ton of progress on your jumper. Great color.

  2. Your jumper is coming along nicely and I love the bag!
I would recommend any book by Tilly and the Buttons- I have all of them – the patterns are great and the instructions really clear. They are also good as reference even if you don’t use the patterns. Love at First Stitch is great for basics and some good staple pieces to get you going and Stretch is great if you love more casual wear. If you want simple patterns then Make it Simple is just that, I’m a fan as you can probably tell!

  3. You are making a TON of progress on your jumper – it looks great. Have you looked at Sew Liberated? They have some online classes, and some free tutorials, and they also have some basic sewing patterns. Pretty approachable and clear in the ones I’ve looked at.

  4. I think that bag is one of the best designs I have seen. I will need to go and take a look at her patterns. Bags are my jam. Your jumper is moving right along. Such a pretty color and pattern.
