Acquisitions/Collection Curation
I have ordered some things! 😀
But they haven’t arrived yet. 🙁
I ordered some more pre-felt, some new breeds for my spinning breed study and a frame loom! Because my order was over £50 I get a free 250g bag of mystery fibres and got 5% off.
I have been watching a lot of frame loom weaving videos and I have in mind some things I’d like to make and maybe sell. Fingers crossed it will all arrive this week and I can tell you (and show you) more next Sunday!
Knitting
Other/household
I’ve made a new gnome! This one is called Gnova and is part of the Gnome-Made Gifts pattern by Sarah Schira. The yarn is from Lamington Lass Highland Peruvian wool in Orchid, Violent Violet, Fractured Obsidian and Pewter.
The pattern has alternative hats and a satchel too, but I’m happy with how he looks at the moment. I may knit the other hats at a later date, but not for now. He’s also supposed to have some tassels hanging on either side of the beard but with the scarf I didn’t want him looking too busy. He lives in our bedroom, since he goes with the decor.

I should get back to knitting my jumper or the 2nd mitten or the cotton/linen cardigan I have in a bag ready to start…but you know what right now I just want to knit gnomes so I am casting on another!
Spinning
I got back to doing some spinning this week, still the baby camel and silk yellow mixed with blue, but still on my first bobbin, so nothing new to show yet.
Weaving
Rigid heddle loom
I finished my sample of the Diamond Stripe pattern with the West Yorkshire Spinners Exquisite lace yarn. I’m thinking about crocheting the edges together and creating a glasses case with it. As for making a full size one, I don’t think I will be and will use the yarn for something else. Maybe I’ll do the Garden Path pattern again, since I gave the one I made as a present.

Other News
Our dog, Ylva, was at the vets this week for a checkup and then went in on Thursday for a lump on her foot to be removed. She has a cone on her head now and I’ve been sleeping downstairs with her. She is 16 in a couple of weeks and we just had the 7th anniversary of her gotcha date. We haven’t opted to have the lump tested, we will just keep treasuring every day we have her.

Whilst she was having her operation I managed to get some seeds planted and have done my first garden blog post of the year.
This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 13th year, but this is my 6th year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, as you’d be very welcome to join us. (There are 53 Sundays this YOP year, it happens sometimes!).
Will your frame loom weaving be like tapestry weaving? I can’t wait to see what you make!

Yes it can be used for tapestry weaving. Technically I could do tapestry weaving on the rigid heddle looms too but this allows for chunkier fibres and to see the whole piece whilst working on it.

I love your gnome! OF course it is in my favorite color. The frame loom sounds interesting. Will look forward to seeing how it works. Ylva looks darn good for her age! She got lucky when she was gotten by you guys. Our boy is 13 this year. Being a little dog, he should have many years left in him.

Gnova is very handsome! And he certainly DOES go with your decor. And your pup is adorable. I hope you get more time than you expect with him. Good times!

Wow, I just love Gnova!!! I must make one of my own, I think. The best part is the colors… purple, raspberry and a little grey. How perfect can one gnome be? I also am very impressed the the (raspberry colored) weaving that you did on a rigid heddle loom. Wow. It will look great as a glasses case with a fun button if you do a flap closure.

That is one seriously cute gnome! And I love the colors you picked (of course). We are still in the very up and down temperatures here (snow this weekend but supposed to be 70 F by mid-week), so I’m ready for gardening weather – it’s just not quite here yet!
