Knitting
Here is a snap of my alpaca shawl so far. It is hard to photograph at the moment, its a crescent shawl the red is at the top edge. There is the rest of the beige and then a rust colour to go.
Sewing
With some of my 8 shaft sampler, I sewed a bag for the Lojan loom metal rods and cardboard divider sticks. I then made a little pouch with velcro close, to keep my little loom samplers in.
I took the pouch to the Guild meeting yesterday and asked for some advice about sewing woven fabric, because my stitches really squished it. Apparently longer stitches should help. I am really proud of it regardless of its wonkyness.
Spinning
Earlier in the week I spun some orange fleece, yesterday I took some brownish dyed fleece to the Guild and spun that. My plan is to ply them together to make a nice mix for a new chicken. I had some yucky yellow but gave that to another Guild member who was trying out a new wheel. There was also some green that I let a potential new member have her first go at spinning. I plied it for her so she could have something to take home with her. This is all helping to get through the dyed fleeces that my friend Norah gave me a couple of years ago (as was the pink from last week’s chicken).
Once plied I will share a photo.
Other News
I went to my first QiGong class on Thursday. I was by far the youngest person there, with most being in their 80s I would say, many doing it sat on a chair. It was very calming so I think I will go again. I also went back to the yoga class I joined last week.
I also went to the monthly book retreat club I am a member of. Our next book is The Telomere Effect which I just started and is interesting so far.
These are good reasons to leave the house on my non-working days. It can be too easy to spend all day in my PJs if I don’t have an excuse.
