Knitting
I finished the emotional support chicken for my mother in law. I gave it green eyes like my husband’s.
We took it to the nursing home on Saturday, she smiled when she saw it but didn’t cuddle it. It is in her room, hopefully she will pick it up. One of the nurses said if I was making any more they would love a donation of some for Christmas so look out for more chickens! They are a good way of using up handspun.
I used the same pattern for all 3 but they are all handspun yarns in different thicknesses, thus the size differences. It is a very forgiving pattern.
We showed my MIL a photo of all 3 chickens in my knitting project basket.
Talking of that basket, this is where I keep my project bags of WIPs and new projects. I had a rummage through and picked out a kit for a shawl.
It’s called Alpaca Scarf by The Woolly Brew and uses 3 x 25g balls of Rowan Alpaca Classic (alpaca/cotton) yarn. Once you have done the set-up rows it is just 2 rows of pattern repeated until you are almost out of the 3rd ball and then you do the edge. Its pretty addictive. Should be very light at only 75g when finished but very warm as its superfine alpaca blown into a cotton net. I will share a photo next week.
Other News
It was quite a busy week. After work on Monday we went out for cake and a drink. Tuesday I had the Guild’s newsletter to compile.
Wednesday evening I went to see Murder She Didn’t Write, an improvised murder mystery. Like the improvised musical I saw earlier this year, they use suggestions from the audience and then produce an original on the spot. At ours a woman was murdered with a curling stone at a ceilidh!
Thursday I finally finished the sealant on our upstairs shower!
We are selling our tent and some related items to a friend so I had to pull pretty much everything out of the understairs cupboard to get to the bits.
I then decided to use the carpet cleaner we had from my mother in law’s….turns out it is missing the vital piece which sucks the dirty water off your carpet/rug! So then I had to order a new part and use old towels to dry the rug.
Friday morning I went to a yoga class. Definitely worked harder at that 90 min class than I ever do at home, so will keep going along to that. Must admit after that I just sat and knitted all day. It was pouring with rain so not suitable for painting the windows and I was too tired to warp my loom.
Saturday we visited MIL at the nursing home, went out for lunch and then went to see The Incomer which I loved, we then had a look around the shops. I ordered a new armchair! Then we went back to the cinema to see One Night Only. Its National Cinema weekend so all films are only £4 per ticket.
