Other/household
Are my posts giving you déjà vu? As you can see I’ve finished my 3rd Emotional Support Chicken.

Last Christmas our Guild had a gift swap. I hadn’t got organised enough to make something and my friend Hilma was one who didn’t receive anything. So when she was admiring my 2nd chicken on a Zoom call, and mentioned she’d like one, I offered to make one for her. She likes turquoise and teal so I pulled out some appropriate handspun. Rambouillet fibre I bought in Wisconsin and Shetland fibre I dyed dark green. I love this chicken and I’m going to see if I have enough yarn to make another. I may spare you seeing that one as it will be so similar you really will think deja vu then.
Have I mentioned how addictive these are to knit? I’ve not cast on a 4th yet, maybe I’ll pick up a work in progress instead..maybe 😂🤣
Spinning
In the final week of our Guild’s January challenge I spun 3 more of the World of Wool Advent days 12, 16 and 20.

I definitely prefer spinning when I’m on a video call or with others more than on my own, so I’ll miss our twice a week calls. Luckily I still spin each week with a friend in America so I should continue to make progress spinning these advents.
Weaving
I’ve subscribed to TWIST which is the Tablet Weavers’ International Studies & Techniques. It was only $10/~£8 to join for the year and you get access to their back issues (which go back many years) plus 3 new editions for the year. I’ve already read half a dozen editions and found some projects I’d like to try. The history of tablet weaving is really interesting too. Globally pieces of tablet woven fabric have been found dating to the 8th century BC/BCE. Some early tablets have been found made of bone and wood.
I’ve ordered some cotton and smaller tablets and I’m going to have a go at making some shoe laces. One of my friends at the Guild has a supply of aglets (the plastic bit at the end of your laces). So depending when bits arrive I may have something to show you next week!
Other News
We went to visit my MIL in hospital yesterday and she seems better than last week. She needs to remain in the hospital 2 more weeks and then we will see after that. My BIL flew over from Australia and has visited her each day and I’m sure that’s helped lift her spirits.
Working Monday to Wednesday is going well and I’ve been keeping up with walking there and back, even when it rains. I just need to push myself to also get out for a walk on Thursdays and Fridays as I do feel better when I’ve been on a walk.
This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 14th year, but this is my 7th year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, as you’d be very welcome to join us.
You almost have a whole flock of chickens. I have a friend that collects chickens. Guess I should make one for him. But, if they are addictive, I am afraid I will never stop making them. Kind of like Gnomes! Your spun fiber is really pretty. My favorite is Mr Bingle. Glad your MIL is on the mend. Also, happy to hear your work schedule is doing well for you.

Your chickens are sooo cute. Glad you are enjoying making them. Suspect you can find quite a few folks that would enjoy receiving one. Glad to hear your MIL is doing better. Wow, I can’t imagine the long flight from Australia to the UK!! Congrats on walking to work M-W. I’m such a wimp about walking. Any excuse not to do it works for me 😝

Your chicken flock is actually inspiring me to maybe knit one myself. Making them from handspun makes them particularly thoughtful gifts, too. And your spinning is wonderful. That GREEN is GORGEOUS!!!

And, Liz, I’m glad your MIL is doing better. I tried to leave a comment in an earlier post, and I couldn’t for some reason. Or I left multiples of the same basic comment trying to. If so, my apologies.
