YOP14 Week 42/52 – knitting gemstones & spinning

Knitting

Shawls

I am making good progressing with my Little Gemstones shawl.  It is such a fun knit.  Each stitch is still being counted but I’m recognising when to turn now.

Last week there was some interest in this pattern and I’d recommend it.  In case I forgot to mention last week, I am using German Short Rows rather than wrap and turns.  (If you buy this pattern and want to do GSRs too, remember to knit 1 extra stitch before doing the GSR/double stitch.)  I’ve excluding some advent colours so I’m just starting to repeat colours now.

Just starting 18th gem

Spinning

This week was our evening  spinning group, spinning interest zoom call and I had a lovely afternoon at a friend’s spinning too!  So I have three more advent colours spun, although not measured yet.

Buddy (21), Zuzu’s Petals (2) and Mrs Claus (22)

Day 2, 21 and 22 (Ravelry links).  That is 16 advent days spun and 9 left to do.

Other News

Its been quite a social week for me and I am grateful to have these spinning groups and friends met through them.  It is quite rare for me to spin when I’m alone now as it seems to be my social hobby.

I did my self assessment tax return and some other admin so haven’t had any garden time this week but I will hopefully get my potatoes planted later today or tomorrow.

Happy Easter to those of you who observe it.

This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 14th year, but this is my 7th year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, as you’d be very welcome to join us.

Year 14 list.

  2. Thanks for the reminder about German Short Rows. I do prefer them to W&T. It is a wonderful shawl design. Your new spins are beautiful. Love the colors. Fiber hobbies have been such a wonderful way to meet terrific people for me too.

  3. I hope you had a wonderful Easter Day :).

I look forward to seeing the continued growth of your Little Gems shawl, it looks interesting.

The yarns you got for your spinning advent are pretty, how much of each fiber do they give you?
