YOP15 Weeks 5-7/52 – 3 week catch-up

Well I don’t think, in my many years in this group, that I’ve ever missed two YOP weeks in a row before.

After last week’s post about Time, I am pleased to say I have spent my time better this week. Instead of waking and opening Facebook, I have been opening up WordPress and catching up with my fellow YOPers updates and some other blogs I follow. A much nicer space to be in, with no toxic comments etc.

At night when I get into bed I am reading my book.

So here’s what I have been up to the last 3 weeks.

Knitting

I have added some more rows to my Coorie In Poncho and it is starting to actually look like one.

As hoped, the weight of it is pulling the ribbed neck so it isn’t as snug.  I am glad I left it, so if you make it yourself don’t be tempted to make the neck wider at the start…it will spread.  I dyed the yarn years ago, I don’t mind the skein in the middle being so different.

Other News

Belladrum (31st – 2nd Aug) – my husband and I had a good time at Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival together a few weeks ago. I missed camping at it with the girls, as it felt weird just hanging around the house in the mornings. We have bought tickets for next year’s already. Paul Heaton (from the Beautiful South) was probably my favourite act of the weekend.

Scooter lesson (9th Aug) – I went on my compulsory basic training course for riding a motorbike/scooter up to 125cc. It was extremely windy that day so my 2 hours of riding around town has been postponed and is now tomorrow. At the moment, I am unsure if I will get one…the 2 hours will answer that I am sure

Garden – my vegetable garden is producing lots of vegetables and I did a wee post showing a daily picking.

Book – I listened to Don’t Let Him In by Lisa Jewell, it may put you off ever dating anyone again but I recommend it as a thriller. The audiobook has a full cast narrating it.

Weather – well the weather has been bonkers, some days the heating has come on automatically because it’s been so cold, then other days I have broken out in prickly heat because it’s been so warm. Roll on autumn, I am done with crazy summer.

Finally, this weekend we are looking after my bosses dog, so that’s been lovely having a dog in the house again.

This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 15th year, but this is my 8th year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, as you’d be very welcome to join us.

Year 15 list.

  1. If you hadn’t mentioned the yarns being different, I wouldn’t have thought a thing. I scrolled down to see the picture of your Coorie poncho before reading what you wrote and thought nothing, except, “oooh… it’s looking so pretty and cozy.” When I looked again at the picture after reading what you wrote, I’m realizing that it looks completely intentional. That worked out really well.

  2. Love your poncho. Agree the different color “stripe” simply looks planned. I think I’d wear a poncho more than I’d wear a shawl. Too funny that you are trying out a scooter/motorbike. Literally had this conversation with my son last night. He wants to buy a similar sized scooter/motorbike to drive to work, about 10km from our house via side streets, on good weather days to save wear on his aging car. Glad you still had a good time at the festival.

  3. The poncho is pretty, I like the the middle color it keeps things interesting in a very nice way!

The weather has just been very hot and humid here. We are suppose to be in the upper 80’s at the begging of this week and even dip into the upper 70’s by the middle of the week, then back into the 80’s. It will be a relief!

  4. I think you are going to get a TON of wear out of that poncho. It already looks nice and cozy so it’ll be perfect to layer when the fall weather actually arrives.

A great new morning routine! I’ve been trying to limit my Facebook and Instagram time as well. It just becomes too much of a time suck!

  5. Your poncho is looking snuggly and warm. Glad the neck is working out for you. Sounds like your scooter class is top notch. Very smart of them to have you do a town ride for 2 hours. I am so ready for autumn and winter here. Really tired of trying to get all errands and chores done early in the morning while the temps are a bit lower.

  6. Our weather’s been going nuts too–hot one day, cool and rainy the next morning, muggy but still raining in the afternoon–just make up your mind, weather! 🙂 Love how the poncho is turning out, and hurrah on getting a handle on your social media usage! 🙂
