A warm welcome to my first Weaving Wednesdays post. 

Most mentions of weaving have been in my weekly Sunday Year of Projects posts.  I wanted to change this for a few reasons:

• Most members of the Year of Projects group are not weavers.  Whilst they will likely enjoy seeing the finished items, that I will continue to share, they won’t necessarily want the technical details.
• I would like weavers to find these posts.  They will hopefully appreciate the technical details and may not be as interested in the eclectic crafting posts I do on Sundays.

I thought I would start off by sharing a list of the looms that I own and a small sample of my weaving to date. 

The year of purchase is in brackets, where known.

Inkle Looms

Rigid Heddle Looms

• Ashford 10″ (2019)
  • 1 heddle reed in sizes 2.5 and 5 dpi
  • 3 heddle reeds in sizes 7.5, 10, 12.5 and 15 dpi
• Ashford 32″ (2020)
  • 1 heddle reed in sizes 5 and 15 dpi
  • 3 heddle reeds in sizes 7.5, 10, 12.5 dpi

Tapestry Loom

• Unknown make!  I bought it just can’t remember where from or find an order confirmation.

Table Loom

• Lojan Flex 50cm 8-shaft (2026)

At the moment, I am weaving my very first sample on my Lojan Flex 8-Shaft loom.  By next Wednesday I will have finished weaving it and hopefully given it a wash too and I can tell you more about it. 

In future posts I will share my thoughts on weaving on a table loom -v- rigid heddle looms; useful resources; WIPs and FOs; weaving books I recommend.
