I very nearly didn’t put the photograph of the Eurasian Thick Knee in the Nature competition, as I wasn’t really sure it was that great a photograph, but it is an unusual bird so thought no harm in popping it in anyway. Judge obviously liked it, although I was away that evening so missed the comments about why this received a credit and not the others.
