Happy new year friends! I hope 2023 is a good one for us all.
Acquisitions/Stash Management
I mentioned last week my sister was getting me some yarn for Christmas, here it is in all it’s pinkness! 💖. It’s 5 skeins of West Yorkshire Spinners Re:Treat yarn to make a 3rd Turtle Dove jumper.

Knitting
Accessories
I was finding Dolores’ limbs a little bit tricky so fancied a quick bulky project. I had about the same amount of left over Rowan Big Wool yarn in Wild Berry (burgundy) and Rowan Big Wool Colour yarn in Fairground (bright pink with coloured blobs), so I held them double and knitted a free hat pattern called Urth to Major Tom by Michele Meadows. I have a pair of mittens I made a while ago in the Wild Berry and a cowl in Fairground, so now I have a matching set of sorts.

Other/household
I have been working on Dolores and her Transatlantic Travel Ensemble.

This week I made her snout, stuffed her and sewed her together. I also made her pill box hat, the cables for her shawl, a wee shawlette, I finished the sleeve pieces although I accidentally have different length arm pieces that I’m hoping blocking will sort rather than me unpick it. I thought I’d be able to finish her before the year is finished but with 3 limbs left to do and her hair, then sewing together her jumper there are too many bits to finish so she will hopefully be done in another week. Her kilt still needs blocking but some other bits are drying. She was basically half naked and legless on New Year’s Eve…just what can be expected of Dolores!!!

Other News
The week between Christmas and New Year always feels a bit weird. You are never sure what day of the week it is, especially with my husband being off this week. We had two snowfalls and icy roads and paths so we didn’t really venture out except dog walks. We had a lot of Christmas TV shows to catch up on when we got back from MIL’s, so that gave some quality knitting time.
My sister and her family look to have had a wonderful Christmas ski trip to Austria, oh to have a snow capped mountains view on Christmas morning. My knees probably aren’t up for the skiing and their hotel served fancy food which is wasted on my plain taste but I’m definitely jealous of the snowy mountain views.
I hope you all have a very happy and healthy 2023.

This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 12th year, but this is my 5th year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry.
And a happy new year to you! Delores is coming along fine and legless on new years eve seems quite appropriate!

I found her in the morning hanging out with my crocheted Minions…up to no good all night I suspect.

Delores is looking quite smart with her hat on. She will be quite the lovely lady when completed. Your hat looks nice and warm. It will be perfect for your snowy/icy days ahead. Love the pink yarn for the new jumper. Happy New Year!

Your hat and cowl look so warm and cozy for the cold weather. The snow is beautiful. We did get to enjoy a white Christmas this year which is very unusual for southwest Ohio. I love it that Delores is only half ready to meet the world. I can totally relate! Wishing you a great year as well.

Now I want to make an Urth to Major Tom hat! Must do some stash diving. Can’t wait to see Dolores all finished up, and that pink Turtle Dove will be beautiful!

It’s really warm, I didn’t expect it to be as warm as my super chunky alpaca one but I think it is warmer.

I find Dolores adorable but I always wonder if I would have the patience for the fiddly bits! Beautiful yarn – I’ll look forward to that all knit up this year. 🙂

If you are good at using DPNs then she probably isn’t too fiddly, I am constantly getting them stuck in my sleeve or stabbing myself with them so her limbs are fiddly.

I don’t mind using DPNs but…… still fiddly it sounds like 😉

Half naked and legless gave me a good laugh. I can honestly say I ended the year in better shape than Dolores! Happy New Year to you dear friend.

I tried on her skirt and jumper last night and she does look so cute. I still need to do her arms and tail but I’m getting there 😃
