Other/household
The leftovers from my recent socks were added to my habitation throw and I added some other bits I found. Its maybe odd that I’m now doing the 10 row repeats in different colours whereas before I was mixing it up more using up smaller leftovers. I have someone sending me some minis in a swap, more on that in a future week but I should hopefully have enough yarn then to finish it.

I tidied the set of drawers next to my armchair and found some dishcloth cotton so thought I’d cast on a Waffle Knit dishcloth to use it up. I wasn’t in the mood for casting on something complicated.

Spinning
This week at spin group and home I spun quite a bit of beige baby camel and silk.
I need to ply the beige but here they are as singles. I’ll be chaining plying as I want 3 ply. I could knit a few lines of beige between each of the colours maybe…in a luxury Litmus cowl or maybe another The Shift. I’m not sure yet.

Other News
A lot of my week was spent looking for a pair of glasses I bought years ago, and finally found them on Thursday which made work on Friday much easier. For reading in bed I’d been using some cheap ready readers but they aren’t suitable for wearing for 5 hours at a computer screen.
I had a free trial of MyHeritage.com, as a distant cousin in Minnesota, USA! (found through 23andme) had a much more comprehensive family tree than we have on Ancestry and some photos of people from way back! So I spent a lot of my free time updating my family’s tree. He’s my 3rd cousin once removed and we have identified our shared ancestors (born in 1811/1808)…a 3x great grandfather/mother of mine and are a 2x great grandfather/mother of him. 😂
Work is going okay so far. I walked there each day and I’ve bought a long raincoat to walk on rainy days too. Its blue…not purple….I know I’m still in shock !!
This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 13th year, but this is my 6th year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, as you’d be very welcome to join us. (There are 53 Sundays this YOP year, it happens sometimes!).
Some nice little projects there to quietly work away on. I’m always amazed at how coordinated people’s scrap blankets are. How exciting about the family tree. I’ve wanted to do one of those DNA ancestry kits for a while now but I keep getting stuck on which one to go with. I hope you keep solving parts of the puzzle.

Thanks, it is confusing with all the different tests on offer. I wanted all the health element so went for 23andme but if it’s just heritage you are after you can go with Ancestry or Myheritage which is much cheaper and you’ll still likely find relatives although I’m not sure how it works on those two dna wise.
I have quite a few north wales ancestors but some as far down as Cardiff. Maybe we share an ancestor lol

Thanks Laura. Hope you are well. Did your husband watch the ladies world cup football final?

Oh, yes, we both did. We agreed that the England team members often kicked the ball to the competitors. So Spain’s win was earned.

Your scrap blanket is really coming out well. Such a good idea. No one will recognize you in a blue raincoat. Congrats on making the walk all three days. How lucky you found the glasses. Seems I always find things a few days AFTER I bought a replacement!!! How interesting to be able to trace your family back so far. My Dad tried Ancestry when it first came out but didn’t get very far. He even visited some cemeteries in Ireland trying to trace relatives.

We have found some relatives along one of the lines that was born in 1620. I honestly was about to make an appointment with the optician and had one last look! Saved me quite a bit of money I’m sure.

What an adorable dishcloth pattern. Walking to work is the best. Years ago in another city I was able to do that – it was delightful. The walk home also clears your head.

Your habitation throw is coming along nicely. It is so colorful too. Dishcloths are such a lovely project to work on when you need a palette cleanser or a quick project to satisfy an ego. The spun fiber is lovely. Looks so soft. WHAAAAT? A blue raincoat? I am shocked!

Absolutely beautiful spinning and I love how your scrappy throw is working up. Hope you have another good week at work. How fun that you were able to connect with someone on family history! My dad has done a lot of geneaology research since he retired and has met several distant cousins/relatives because of it.
