YOP13 Week 21/53 – Bisbis Beret FO

This week I made a Bisbis Beret by Sari Nordlund. The yarn is John Arbon Yarnadelic (100% Falklands Corriedale – Sport weight) held with CaMaRose Midnatssol (54% baby alpaca, 36% Tencel and 10% merinould(?) – lace). I’d told some friends it was Suri alpaca/silk, turns out that was wrong. Anyway I enjoyed knitting with it and this is my first time knitting two different yarns together. The alpaca was sticky enough to make it very simple.

The pattern is very easy to follow and I like the fit on the beret. It will need a temperature test but so far I’m happy with it. (Excuse the bags under my eyes!)

Being silly

I’ve been wearing my Selfish Pullover all week (well not in the office but at home) and I’m very happy with the revised neck detailed in last week’s post.

Next on my needles will be colourwork fingerless mittens that I have a kit for.

Spinning

On Saturday’s spinning interest call we were talking about alpaca, so it seemed a good idea to finally start spinning the merino alpaca blend packs from World of Wool in my stash. It’s 67% merino and 33% alpaca. There are 6 different colours in each pack and I bought two. It’s enjoyable to spin so far. It’s a loooong time since I spun anything on my Ashford Traveller, so it was nice to get back to spinning. Not much to show yet so I’ll show it next week when I’ve plied the first colour.

Other News

My husband had man flu this week, possibly Covid, so he isolated upstairs this week and I went in the spare room downstairs. I therefore didn’t get to my craftroom to do any felting but definitely next week I will!

  3. What a beautiful, rich color your beret is. It looks great on you. Sorry to hear your husband has to battle not feeling well. I’m hoping we make it through today’s family gathering without getting sick. Last time we got together was indeed when my hubby ended up with broncitis!

  5. Your beret is really pretty, alpaca makes everything soft and warm ;). Glad your neck line turned out well after all that fussing, the sweater is pretty :). Hope your husband gets well soon, being sick is definitely not fun and having to sleep in a different room when your spouse is sick is even more not fun!

    Looking forward to seeing your spin. I get my wool and other fibers from http://www.camajfiberarts.com. She has so many fibers!! She also does a group sale where you can order a pound for less than when buying it by the oz. So far I like all the fibers I’ve purchased.

  7. You beret is great. Looks good in you too. How nice to have a sweater worthy of daily wear. Hope your hubby bounces back soon from his yuckies. Especially since it puts your craftroom in quarantine too. LOL
