Felting
I’ve been asked for specific orders from two of the gallery’s customers. One lady would like 2 ceiling shades (I mostly do table/standard lamp). Another would like a 35cm table one. Last time I made one that big it was a real physical workout. Those will be my priority next week.
Knitting
Jumpers/cardigans
I haven’t shown a picture of my Avena jumper since week 45, when I’d cast on a 2nd attempt in a smaller size.
The last few weeks was just knitting the odd row, but this week I spent most of Tuesday and Thursday trying to finish the colour-work section. I finished the last row on Friday. It’s a little bumpy but I think it’ll smooth out once it’s blocked. 🤞🏻

I think the colour-work is stunning on this pattern, but it’s not the most interesting to knit and seemed so slow…but then I did have to knit the first 30-ish rows twice.
I really should put this aside to knit my cotton/linen cardigan or my merino/linen top. I’ll maybe just do the short rows, divide for the sleeves and then put it aside.
Socks
My socks I was keeping in my husband’s car have come out for a wee photo and maybe I’ll work on them in the house. (I painted the fence, which is why my linen romper suit has brown speckles.) It’s a variation of Hermione’s Everyday Sock pattern in WYS sock yarn.

Spinning
I’ve made a start on spinning the merino, alpaca, camel and silk fibre from Coastal Colours and I love it. It’s so beautifully soft, it’ll likely be a snug cowl, something I’ll feel against my skin and be cosy.

Other News
Sitting and knitting for 2 days this week has really caused my internal chatter to be loud. Battling between me “wasting my time when I have a zillion things to get done”, yet being glad to get the colour-work finished. I would say having 2 days of the week doing so little else definitely adversely affected my mood.
I am better when I can write in my journal, at the end of the day, a list of tasks I achieved that day. Whilst finishing the colour-work is great, I over ate and sat still those two days and felt quite down by bedtime. So I’ll get back to finding a balance for tasks and knitting, rather than weeks just doing one or the other. I don’t know if anyone else’s mind chats away to them about this sort of thing.
Anyway, Saturday I did a lot of fence painting so that’s felt good. I published a gardening post yesterday, my gardening blog. Mostly photos for my own record.
This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 13th year, but this is my 6th year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, as you’d be very welcome to join us. (There are 53 Sundays this YOP year, it happens sometimes!).
Your Aveena sweater is absolutely gorgeous! Love the little socks.
Like you, I am happier when I stay busy. But our bodies and minds also need rest. I keep a journal with my daily to do list and what I’ve accomplished. I feel a little lost without it.
One thing that has helped me is to limit my sitting time. For a while I would spend all afternoon on the couch, knitting. That’s fine, as I was healing. But now I knit and watch one show. Then I make myself get up and do something else. It’s helped.

I do a daily journal as well and it has the tick list on each page for what was on the To Do list and having seen how many items I’d noted in previous weeks and had nothing written for Tuesday and Thursday really knocked me. I’ll follow your lead and make sure I’m just watching one show and then getting up…not catching up on a whole season of something lol

I battle with my inner voice too. I always have so many things I want to get done, but after a whole day at work I just want to sit, knit and have some peace. Aveena is gorgeous! The colorwork looks great.

I agree that the pattern of your Aveena is wonderful. I can see how it’s repetitive to knit but it sure looks great. Wow, special orders!! Good luck. I just love your lampshades! I too am working on not sitting so much. Even have tried using the timer feature on my watch to remind me to get up!! But I really do need daily knitting time. Found myself unable to sleep during my daughter’s visit so I was up from 1:30am to 2:30am knitting and then I was able to go to sleep.

“Mind chatting away”. I love that, and I so relate. In my most recent post, I called this sort of thing ruminating, but the mind chatting away is a better description of what has been going on in my noggin’ lately.
Can I just say again how beautiful is the stitch pattern on the yoke of that sweater. I can’t wait to see the whole thing when you finish it.

Thanks, I’m a little behind on your blog but I have the email in my mailbox so will read that now. Thanks, I’m really thrilled with how it looks, I just hope it’s going to fit ok.

The color work on your Avena jumper is stunning, wish I enjoyed doing color work, I would so do that one!
I’m definitely not one to have lists, I even forget to write in my journal and the Monday Funny a couple of weeks ago about the housekeeping style looking like there appears to have been a struggle, well, maybe that’s why I thought it was so funny :P. My brain is always going a mile a min and jumping from one thing to another, kinda like changing channels on the TV (which means I usually have a lot of half done things going on in my house), but the knitting and spinning slows me down so I can gather my thoughts and ponder things to work stuff out or finish. LOL, sucks to be me, but I’m just use to it.
Love your socks, the color is amazing!

Your sweater us gorgeous. Colors are very striking. Your spinning is super pretty too. How nice to get special orders for your shades. I make up a to do list the night before. Then the next day I challenge myself to complete it by noon (2 at the latest). Then I give myself permission to do whatever I fancy. It serves me well. At the end of the day I journal of all my doings and feelings of the day.

Oh my gracious, that colorwork is stunning!!! I find my mood vastly improves if I am able to craft on something each day (knitting, sewing, etc.) I also listen to audiobooks when i knit sometimes and then I feel accomplished because i have combined two loves at once.

That sweater is truly gorgeous! The color work design is intriguing to look at, even if it’s less exciting to knit. I’m looking forward to seeing your continued progress.
The sock yarn colorway is very pretty, too. 😉

It’s always about finding a balance, isn’t it? I am the same way, although I know myself well enough to know if I get a long walk in, do chores and any other adulting before lunch, I am okay to give myself permission to sit for a while in the afternoons. Your sweater is going to be stunning with that yoke!
