YOP14 Weeks 39-40/52 – Dorset Buttons and 3rd quarter snapshot

Knitting

Shawls

I’ve made a start on the body section of my poncho. It’s pretty mindless as just increases every other row. With everything else going on it’s ideal, although I am more inclined to do jigsaws on my ipad right now. The pattern is Coorie in Poncho. (Ravelry link for latest photo.)

Spinning

Last Sunday I spun and plied Day 18 of my World of Wool Advent.

Weaving

Dorset buttons

I made my parents a Dorset button for their Diamond Wedding Anniversary last month. The kit was bought from TJFrog at the Dornoch Fibre Festival but she does have an online store with lots of different kits and themed items. I forgot to take a photo of the finished item but this was the kit so it pretty much looked just like this.

I made another blue/purple button as well from a metal curtain ring, scrap yarn and some beads.

My mum said she would like to have a go at making one so some kits will be a perfect present.

Other News

I’ve had a really heavy cold, chesty cough and little energy the last couple of weeks, which is why I skipped last week.

I haven’t really had much energy to do much at all after work and on my days off.  I worked 4 days this week and doing the same next week, but then I’ll be back to 3 days and really must get going with my vegetable garden!  So far I have only cleaned the greenhouse and pots, fertilised and weeded my raised beds and planted some peas and garlic.

I’d normally do a 3rd quarter snapshot on week 39’s post. This is just for my own records posted below.

This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 14th year, but this is my 7th year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, as you’d be very welcome to join us.

  1. I am very sorry you weren’t well, but I also have to say that it is difficult to keep up with your crafty productivity! I love your Dorset buttons, and what a spin! Also thanks for sharing all your sources, my purse won’t be happy, but I am 😁

    p.s.

I think I also commented with another id, which is work and shared, so grateful if you could please delete that one!!!

      • I had an ashford Traveller and really liked it, but its wheel was warped and at the time I didn’t have the money to repair it. Was a good wheel otherwise :). I have a Kromski polonaise and a Rick’s Reeves wheel now, both were gifts, I was very blessed. Love the Polonaise, it’s my favorite, the Rick Reeves wheel is work in progress with spinning.

  2. Looks like you are doing well on most of your hobbies. Sorry you haven’t been feeling well. It is exciting to start getting gardens ready. We are getting hit with late frosts so it’s just as well we are just now getting home. Need to wait a few more weeks before we can start our container gardening.

  4. Fancy! I’ve made Dorset buttons, to go on a silk shirt I made – but nothing this intricate! Very simple, with curtain rings and embroidery floss in a matching color. Thank you for reminding me of this possibility.

    Yes, keep getting healthy.
