YOP15 Week 40/52 – October Hat FO

Knitting

My October Hat by Sloane Rosenthal is finished.  The yarn is Jamieson’s of Shetland – Shetland Heather aran yarn in Oceanic colour. It comes in 50g balls and I used just under 2 balls. I had reduced the rib section as I’d seen another person needed 3 balls of this yarn for the hat. Luckily I managed to do all the repeats of the cable pattern.

Weaving

Rigid heddle loom

On Thursday I warped my 32” rigid heddle loom with some Lily’s Sugar’n Cream yarn and wove a couple of handtowels. They have been washed and tumble dried but still need to be ironed and hemmed.  I will show those next week.

I am thinking about doing a Brooks Bouquet woven shawl next on my loom.

My knitting mojo has been quite low since finishing my hat. I seem more interested in exploring weaving patterns and watching YouTube weaving videos for tips and ideas. I also haven’t found time (or inclination) to felt the lampshades either. I am really keen to use up my stash to make room and have things less cluttered, weaving uses it up pretty quickly so I can see me doing much more weaving this year than knitting.

However, our Guild had its first Knitting & Crochet with Handspun yarn group yesterday morning, so that has given me some inspiration to cast something on with some homespun soon.

Other News

The weather has been a bit miserable this week with torrential rain and now a white easter!

For regular readers, after it being 3rd time lucky on them getting blood out of my arm for some blood tests…I have to go back because it came out of my arm so slowly it clotted and one of the viles wasn’t testable!  4th time luckily hopefully!! Good news is my thyroid is fine…so can’t blame that for my ever growing waistline and chins.

On Good Friday my husband and I walked from the house into Strathpeffer (a Victorian Spa village) which is just over 5 miles away. We had lunch and an ice cream there and caught a bus back most of the way.  It was forecast to rain but was only occasionally spitting which was great.

I need to eat less sugar, so I will be glad when Easter treats are no longer stocking all the shelves.

Now there’s a shortage of fuel thanks to some American idiot, I will be walking to work more often.  I asked about a pay rise, as I hadn’t had one since August 2024, they are giving me a good increase and back dating it to the start of the year which is very nice.  Glad I asked!

That’s all for this week, hope you have a happy easter to those who celebrate it. See you next Sunday.

This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 15th year, but this is my 8th year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, as you’d be very welcome to join us.
