Knitting
I haven’t done much knitting this week, I have been watching the Olympics and it has not been something to knit during. (Well not for me.) However, I did manage to finish knitting the Lake Reed hat for my husband. I loved knitting this pattern, so I have ordered some yarn to knit myself one. (I’ll show them when they arrive…oops yes another skein popped in my online basket at the same time oops.)
I added some extra rows as his head is quite big and he likes a hat to cover his ears. The pattern was free on Ravelry and such a pleasure to knit.
I planned to cast on my 2nd Quick Sand cardigan on Saturday but I watched the full final of the rhythmic gymnastics (thanks to our Discovery+ free subscription), then we watched the first 5 episodes of Cruel Summer! That constantly changes year so it also wasn’t suitable to knit through. I envy all those other knitters who can knit at the cinema etc.
Other News
My SUP arrived on Tuesday and I went out with a friend one day and we went right round Loch Achility and yesterday my husband had his first go on it. Here’s a photo he took of me. Our dog was not too keen on me being on the water, she howled from the shoreline and even went in the water slightly…this from the dog who turns round if there is a puddle too big to walk round!

I apologise to my fellow bloggers, I am very behind reading blogs. I have been totally hooked watching the Olympics this year and at bedtime I am reading Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer (Twilight saga). I’m not sure how I missed this coming out at the time, but I am enjoying it as much as I did the original books. I think the Olympics finishes tomorrow so life will return to normal.
This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 11th year, but this is my 4th year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry.
Al’s hat looks great! So glad your SUP is there and you guys are enjoying it 🙂 Poor Ylva – she is such a sweetie!

wow, lovely hat! And the yarn looks so very yummy, what is it please?
And I am VERY impressed with your paddling – I still haven’t found the guts to row on real water (fear of capsizing!), so I am in awe of your ability to keep your balance while standing!

The yarn was from Ripples Crafts a DK single, but she doesn’t sell it in DK size any more, only in 4 ply/fingering weight. So the new DK yarn I have bought isn’t a single so won’t be as squishy soft.

I did not know Ripple Crafts, I will check them out – and 4ply works great for my current”phase” 😀

That’s a great hat it looks really cosy. I certainly couldn’t knit that and watch tv but I do like to keep a simple project on the needles for tv knitting. Your dog made me smile. Reminds me of the time my sister and I were out walking and her dog had to be carried across every single stream we had to cross, even though they were barely a trickle!

No need to apologize. Life always comes first! I do adore that yarn – I’m a sucker for kettle-dyed yarns. Perhaps I’ll blog about some recent yarn purchases.

I love that hat and with your recommendation, I ‘m pretty sure I’ll have to make one! The sup looks interesting and more secure than kayaking. Your dog was worried about you and was willing to overcome her fear of the water to dave you if necessary! LOL! She was warning you…what a sweetie she is.
I have watched several Olympic episodes on You Tube after the fact. I am interested in the equestrian as I used to ride. I still have my saddles in the basement….I can’t seem to part with them. I have always loved the Olympics but I don’t have cable and they never showed what I wanted to see so You Tube is great.

Well darn it…….that hat pattern is now in my library of patterns to knit. It is gorgeous. I have a feeling your hat will be in the purple color spectrum. Looks like you were having a great time on the SUP. Ykva, not so much.

So happy your SUP arrived! What fun you will have. My daughter’s dog starts out on the board with her then jumps off, swims to shore and chases her all around while she’s out. Some dogs get used to it. I bet my corgis would as their legs are short & they have a wide wheel base, lol. Oh and the hat is gorgeous.

I don’t know if corgis are water liking dogs. Certainly spot a few people with small terriers in their own little life vest enjoying a ride.

Beautiful hat! I’m a winter Olympics kinda girl :), have never been super keen on the summer one, but that is just me. Does your blog not have a like button? I couldn’t find one.

I prefer winter too, but this year the summer with surfing, BMX and skateboarding it seemed a lot more fun and definitely the most I have ever watched. No I turned the Like button option off I think.

YAY! I’m glad your paddleboard arrived quickly and is being put to good use already!
Hats are one of my favorite things to make, and the one for your husband is quite lovely! I also like my hats to cover my ears, and usually need to add an inch or so to keep my lobes cozy.

Your finished Lake Reed hat is just beautiful, LIz. And you look great out there on your new SUP. How funny and sweet that your dog was worried about you. I can only imagine how freaky it must have been to her to see you standing and floating on the water. lol
