YOP13 Week 10/53 – finished Alaska hat and new cast on

Knitting

Accessories

I finished the Alaska hat and that has it’s own post. It’s a fun pattern to knit and I may make another with handspun one day.

With the hat finished and me having previously made matching gloves for it, I obviously now need a matching cowl! The yarn is a bit woolly for being close to neck, so instead I’m using Ripples Crafts merino/yak/silk 4 ply in colour “Oh My!”.

The pattern is the Mostly Warmness Cowl by Martina Behm. I’ve made it before in burgundy yarn of the same fibre mix and love that one so I’m sure I’ll love this new one. It’s fun to knit too.

Other News

I managed to get out on my SUP this week which was great and made a new friend.  It’s been ages since I’ve been out as it’s been hard to get matching availability with the other people I used to go out with and they have been taking trips abroad.  A lady had put on a local SUP Facebook group that she was looking for a buddy to go SUPing with so I responded.  We had a lovely 1.5 hours paddling and getting to know each other.

We are similar ages and both work part time so hopefully we will both get out more. Her husband came and sat on the shore waiting, in case I was a murderer. My husband had asked me before I left what time he should come hunting for my body in case I was meeting a murderer! Clearly we all watch too many crime shows. 😂🤣

This is a Year of Projects post.  Officially the Group is in its 13th year, but this is my 6th year participating.  If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, as you’d be very welcome to join us.  (There are 53 Sundays this YOP year, it happens sometimes!).

Year 13 list.

  1. Haha. Kinda sad that we do worry now more about strangers than we ever used to. So glad you found a SUP buddy. Congrats on finishing your hat and getting a new cowl cast-on. I’m looking forward to digging out my autumn cowl but currently we are having another heat wave. It’s going to be awhile before I can wear long sleeves and a cowl. On the other hand, I lost a half kilo simply sweating while sitting in my seat last night watching the soccer game.

  2. A bit sad but good to be cautious. Glad you made a new friend and got out on the board. The cowl looks smashing and will go lovely with the hat and mitts.

  3. Glad you found a buddy who is not a murderer. The hat turned out very nicely. The cowl is a very pretty color and will match nicely.

  4. Glad to not have a TV – or watch crime shows! How much do we miss out on through excessive caution?!? I loved the hat, by the way; I look forward to seeing the cowl progress.
