YOP13 Week 32/53 – hijacked YOP post…Anglesey mini break

This was not a very crafty week so I’m hijacking this post to share about my mini break.

What crafting I have done is included at the start.

Knitting

Socks

On the train down I cast on a pair of socks…but I haven’t got very far.

The yarn is West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4 ply its roughly Hermione’s Everyday Sock pattern, but I’m spiralling the purl bump pattern.

Other News

I got back late on Tuesday from my long weekend with friends. What a wonderful trip it was. I barely took any photos otherwise I would have posted this on my travel blog. I haven’t even posted our October trip to Islay on there yet!

It was a weekend of train journeys and a bus replacement service between Inverness and Edinburgh due to storm damage. I managed to meet my folks for lunch in Chester before Sue and I set off. We picked Niamh up from Holyhead ferry terminal, as she lives in Ireland, and the other ladies were all there when we arrived.

I feel very lucky to have such great friends and be able to afford to travel and stay together, thanks mostly to our friend who owns the fabulous cottage she runs as a holiday rental on Anglesey.

If you and a group of friends or family are looking for a place to stay then I highly recommend a stay at Y Goedwig in Llanfaelog (near Rhosneigr) on the Isle of Anglesey off the coast of North Wales.

Get in touch if you are one of my followers and you are interested in staying there, as the owner has offered the chance of a 10% discount if booked direct through her. I will be able to link you up. She’s also allowed me to share these photos which she took originally, I’ve added the text.

There were 9 of us, but only 7 were able to stay all 3 nights. We went to Newborough Forest and Beach and walked from there to the tidal island called Llanddwyn, the location that The 1900 Island was filmed. (Thanks to Alissa for letting me know that.)

We spent hours in the hot tub but this time didn’t use the games room, but we did in September when we went last time.

The Oystercatcher restaurant is in easy walking distance, there’s a beach nearby that has a mobile sauna, and Rhosneigr has cafes, restaurants and shops. Some of the group walked there and back when we went for brunch in Mojo’s cafe. Some (like me) went in a car 😂

We had deep conversations and frivolous ones. On Monday Sue dropped me at my friend Elaine’s on the Wirral and we chilled out on the sofa and talked, snoozed and watched some animated movies…total relaxation.

It was all just an absolutely fantastic weekend.

This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 13th year, but this is my 6th year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, as you’d be very welcome to join us. (There are 53 Sundays this YOP year, it happens sometimes!).

Year 13 list.

  1. What a wonderful trip. How wonderful to have such a large group of friends! We are indeed lucky we can afford to be able to have holiday travels. Do enjoy traveling while you are young enough to physically be able to do it. Love your idea to spiral the purl bump on the Hermione pattern. What a pretty fade yarn too.

    • Hi, yes I feel very lucky to have them all as friends. We used to be a group of 10 but lost one to cancer years ago. We took up a whole corner of the pub every Friday night and Saturday night in the 90s 😂.
