Knitting
Other/household
I realise I’ve not shown a photo of my Gansey Afghan that I’ve been knitting as part of a Gansey knit-along with the ladies from Mildly Granola, Snakes & Cranes and Quite a Yarn. Strictly speaking the blanket should be called Gansey inspired, as a Gansey is a jumper knitted with smaller wool, smaller needles and in a certain way from a long tradition of fisherman’s jumpers. But they both have patterns created with knits and purls so I guess that’s why the designer called it that.

I’ve used the darker colour to separate the end of the pattern repeat. I didn’t quite get my 4 dark rows in the right spot, should have started a row earlier but I’m not unpicking it. I’m not sure how many sections I’ll be able to get from the yarn I have. Time will tell.
Other News
I bought a couple of cookbooks that I’d spotted in Rhosneigr in a gift shop, but bought online as I was travelling by train. Seasonal Soups by Fraser Reid and The Nordic Baker by Sofia Nordgren. I’ve made one of the soups so far and it was tasty.
I have been doing lots of cleaning, sorting and decluttering and getting the house back in the position to maintain it using the Flylady system I’ve mentioned before.
We had a small snowfall which was nice when I walked to work on Wednesday. I’m finding walking to work is the highlight of my working days.
This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 13th year, but this is my 6th year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, as you’d be very welcome to join us. (There are 53 Sundays this YOP year, it happens sometimes!).
Definitely no need to unpick all that hard work! The blanket looks great so far.

The afghan is very pretty so far. I really like that soft gray color. The new cook books sound fun as well. Soup and baking go together really well.

Walking is a great way to clear the mind. No wonder it’s the best part of your work day.

Beautiful afghan! Walking to work sounds wonderful. Personally, I have to drive because it’s a little far, but I generally take the back roads in order to arrive in a calmer and unrushed state. Enjoy those walks! 🙂

I love the stitch combinations in your blanket. That’s going to be lovely to wrap up in. I am envious of the walk to work idea. (I normally am 100% WFH but we had a teambuilding thing on Friday in person that required 4 hours of commute and I was absolutely wiped out by the time I got back. A brisk morning walk, however, sounds MUCH nicer!)

Your gansey afghan is beautiful!!! I think we are going to have an apt inspection this coming summer, so probably time for me to start to sort and re-organize as well. sigh.
