2024-2025 Year of Projects (YOP14) Starting List – Week 1/52

After wrapping up YOP13 last week, it’s time to see what is on my list for the next 12 months.

This is the Group’s 14th Year (YOP14), but my 7th Year.

As ever, I’m being hugely optimistic about what I can achieve but that’s what motivates me. To reduce the amount of words from last year I’ve added some new icons and removed designers’ names as the Ravelry links are there for more information.

Grab a cuppa as this is a long list!

Key:
↪️ carried over from a previous YOP year
*️⃣ started previous YOP year
✳️ started this YOP year

🧶 yarn/colour

As the year progresses these will also be used:
✅ finished 🏁 week finished
🆕 added to list after week 1
‼️ abandoned (i.e. changed my mind and probably will never make it)
⏸️ on hold (i.e. not fully abandoned the idea but now not doing this YOP year)
🐸 frogged

NB. There are links to the Ravelry pattern, yarn or project page.

Main target for YOP 14

To schedule time for personal projects and shop stock items. Last year I allowed months to go by with little or no stock of certain items. I’d like to ensure there’s always a good selection of my items available at the Alchemist Gallery in Dingwall.

New stock items will have separate posts this year. My YOP posts will cover non-stock items only, unless there’s a new design to highlight.

Progress so far

Tour de Fleece has finally got me washing, combing and spinning some fleece samples! (The last 3 years I spun the commercial tops samples.) I have done a couple of separate posts about TDF this week Opening post link, progress post link. As much as I don’t enjoy washing fleece I have enjoyed spinning the hand prepped fibres. So far this TDF I have finished:

  • Coastal colours merino, alpaca, camel and silk blend
  • Suffolk fleece sample
  • Zwartbles fleece sample
  • Blue Texel fleece sample
  • Boreray fleece sample

With a headache and scratchy throat, I decided not to put others at risk going on the west coast spinning trip on Friday. It’s a shame as it was finally a nice day weather wise.

Other News

Goodness I’ve done a blog post almost every day this week! On my garden blog I’ve done a couple of pictorial posts on how my vegetable garden is currently and another on my wild flower lawn. We didn’t plant wild flowers…they’ve just arrived on their own.

Our March temperatures are continuing, and there was fresh snowfall on the Cairngorms!!but having spoken to my friend whose eldest daughter lives in Sacramento where it’s over 100°F everyday, I’ll take a summer of wearing knitwear any day.

Right that’s enough waffle from me. It’s definitely been busier than normal on all my blogs recently. I’ll be back with another TDF update during the next couple of weeks, but once that’s finished I’ll probably return to mostly just my Sunday morning YOP posts here, my monthly garden posts and ad hoc travel ones.

Officially the Group is in its 14th year, but this is my 7th year participating. Click the link if you would like to find out more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, as you’d be very welcome to join us.

  1. Wow, that’s an impressive set of goals. I’ll miss your felted stocking finishes. Is tourism (and sales) up? I’ve heard Americans are flocking to overseas locations. Best wishes on all your plans. I do lay mine out on a calendar so that I can see that I haven’t planned to knit 5 sweaters in one month. 😉 I never follow the timeline I laid out though.

    • I have an issue with storage on my website and have had to upgrade it again. The lampshades are on a theme and so you’ve seen so many very similar ones, when I have stock to drop off I’ll do a collage photo on a separate post and so you’ll still see them, it’s just I really wanted to also keep personal and work makes separate. I’ve not had June sales figures yet but I really must get some fairies finished and dropped off as they are popular and take up little room. We are way up north, 4 hours from Edinburgh or Glasgow but there are companies that to tours up here and cruise liners that come in about 10 miles north of here so they have groups that come to Dingwall for a wander. Where the coaches usually stop the gallery is the very first shop the tourists see as it’s at the end of the high street.
