YOP14 Week 21/52 – candy cane spinning and new jumper progress

Knitting

Jumpers/cardigans

My Avena jumper finally dried and I could try it on.  I wasn’t keen on the neckline so I amended it and then published a post about it, which I know many of you have already seen and commented (thank you).  In case you missed it, here’s a link.

I’ve also made great progress, in the first week, on my new Winding Down jumper.  The colours aren’t true on the photo and the cables aren’t super obvious but I’m really enjoying knitting it so I’m continuing.  The neck lies fine, this is a badly rushed photo.

Spinning

I spun some beautifully soft bouncy Polwarth and plied some of it with the Christmas colours bamboo.  My aim was candy cane looking yarn.  I have some more to spin and ply. No plans for what I’ll make with it yet.

Other News

We have had snow pretty much all week which has made it feel quite Christmassy earlier than normal.  Some years we don’t get snow until January or even February so a few inches in November has been lovely.  Albeit a bit weird to have our large alder tree shedding its green leaves onto thick snow.

It has really perked up our dog, she loves the snow so much.  She no longer face plants into it but licks and nibbles it.

I made another sourdough loaf, this time using some flour with seeds in which I’ve only had 1 slice of so far but it was tasty.

The jumper surgery and starting a new one has eaten most of my week.  So not much else to report.  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving on Thursday to all my friends and readers in America.

This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 14th year, but this is my 7th year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, as you’d be very welcome to join us.

Year 14 list.

  1. Your candy cane spun yarn looks great. It will make such a fun project. Love the heather yarn you are using for your new jumper. It was so fun getting a taste of snow here before we head south. It’s all gone now but it was beautiful for a day.
