In August this year I moved from recording my books read (and to be read) from Goodreads to StoryGraph. StoryGraph is a woman owned business, whereas Goodreads is owned by Amazon.
I was finding with Goodreads I’d be more tempted to read others’ reviews of books and this often put me off books I’d thought I’d enjoyed.
I like the way with StoryGraph you can give fractions of scores, you can say whether you think it’s fast, medium or slow paced. You can flag books for specific sensitive content and then you can select your settings to avoid browsing books with content you don’t want to read. It will show a little warning symbol and you can move on in your search. I also love that it shows you hours reading for audio books and then you can differentiate between digital and physical books.
My aim was to read at least 44 books in 2024, I exceeded that finishing 52.
60% were audiobooks, 23% digital and 17% printed books. My busiest month for reading was definitely August. Here’s some of the data StoryGraph can produce.

It was a good year of books for you! I joined Story Graphic at your recommendation. I’m planning to use it to track my progress, but that’s about it.

The charts just produce on their own so if you track your progress the charts are a bonus.

Story Graph charts are pretty cool. I will have to share this system with my husband, he reads constantly, and seems to have a spreadsheets for everything.

He will probably like it, I love spreadsheets too so it scratches that itch for me without actually being a spreadsheet.

A good proportion were audiobooks and they keep me company when I’m gardening, walking to work, doing housework, decluttering etc. I don’t listen to much music these days unless my husband has it on. I also have insomnia (thanks perimenopause) so a lot of pages get read around 4am 😉
