My 2nd Emotional Support Chicken is finished. This one is also 100% my handspun yarns but this time it’s mostly superfine merino. The red is merino and yellow is baby camel and silk, like chicken #1.

It is amazing how nice it is to cuddle these chickens. I can certainly see why there’s currently just over 9,000 of these chickens made that have been logged on Ravelry. We have decided to keep these two.
Spinning
I spun another advent day, day 4.

Other News
My MIL is unwell so Frankie, the parrot, moved back with us late on Monday night. On Tuesday I came home from work and went straight out for a walk with my neighbour, when I got back home I heard “Hello!” and it spooked me for a minute until I remembered she’s back with us. She has a few words “hello”, “hello Frankie”, “clever girl”, “bye bye”.
On Saturday afternoon we went to visit her in hospital. It’s a 100 mile roundtrip to visit as she’s in the next county to us. My brother in law is coming over from Australia this week too visit her and it’s been a few years since my husband or MIL have seen him.
I downloaded the jigsaw app that years ago I was completely addicted to. I’ve done so many jigsaws on my ipad this week I’ve barely read anything and hardly knitted. I may need to delete it again if I can’t limit myself on it. 🙈
NB I’ve put a notice on my welcome page that the Alchemist Gallery in Dingwall has sold out of all my made items. My shoulder is preventing me making new stock at the moment.
This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 14th year, but this is my 7th year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, as you’d be very welcome to join us.
Oh, your new chicken looks soooo nice! I’m going to have to drag out more handspun and get to work. Your cinnamon bear yarn will look pretty nice in a chicken!! I’m wondering if your MIL will need one… it could be named FrankieTwo. 🙂

Yes I thought my spinning looked very chicken like. I wasn’t certain if she would be allowed one in the hospital and meant to ask whilst we were there. I’m going to make a third once I’ve raided my handspun drawer.

What was so compelling about the chicken knitting was all the creativity that could come into play with the colors once I understood the construction of the chicken. I then started crocheting the tail together and then I started adding some crocheted embellishments to the tail and top seam. Then there were the beads… and the little crown… did I mention the necklaces? It is so fun!

I forgot to say that I’ve made 25 chickens, and I never logged them into Ravelry because it would just be a big old parage of chickens…

I’m sure there are thousands more out there. Because I track my stash through ravelry I record everything I knit. In a few months time mine may look like a chicken farm.

Oh, I am way too lazy for that, but I am good about sweaters and major knits and I’ve learned to put details about modifications into the project notes.

so sorry to hear about your MIL 😦 and hope she’ll be out of the hospital soon.
I really like your chickens, I might have to knit one, and it is such a clever way to use little bits of handspun.
I do have an addictive bent with some apps, so totally get you, at least puzzles are stimulating, while in my case, the trashiest the app, the greater my addiction, so I have no games at all on any device now…

Thanks, they’ve said if all goes well she will be in for 4 weeks. It is really an ideal pattern for random bits of handspun. And see we both have so many hats etc it makes a nice change and will help use some up. The jigsaws must be better for my brain than Instagram but the other day I did them all day until my iPad ran out so that is hours of not moving which isn’t great. I’ll see how I get on trying 1 a day max.

let’s hope she is out before 4 weeks!
If you manage to play a little rather than not at all I think it is great, I wish I could be more disciplined, for me it is all or nothing, so I have plenty of room for improvement 😃

I hope your MIL improves. That’s a long time to be stuck at a hospital. I don’t envy your trip. That’s about the same as my drive to visit my dad. I’ve become a bit resentful as I lose half a day to spend a few minutes with him since he can barely stay away to eat his lunch. I’m enjoying my very short video calls from Florida that I can do almost every day. I’m going to keep doing that after I return to Ohio. I’m definitely going to cut down to no more than one visit a week. Haha, I can see chickens all over the house. My addiction is Solitare. I can lose hours playing it.

I should suggest to my husband video calls on the days he doesn’t visit. He will go every other day. Once his brother arrives from Australia they can take turns.

Hopefully your MIL improves quickly and can get back home. Have you thought about selling your chickens at the Alchemist Gallery? If you love them that much, maybe others would like to have a few of them hanging around their homes too. Just a thought.

My next one is for a specific person, again using some handspun. I think if I still have the urge I may ask the owner of the Alchemist to see if she’s interested. Otherwise I may not be able to move for chickens and minions 😂

Your emotional support chickens are just lovely and look like just the thing for a cuddle! I hope that your MIL heals quickly and the visit with your BIL goes well. I hope you will enjoy your time with Frankie – she sounds like quite a character!

Cute support chickens :). Parrots can be fun, my son has an African grey that when I leave and tell her good bye she says “see you later”, lol. I hope your MIL is home soon. Hope your shoulder heals soon so you can go back to making your gallery items.
