YOP14 Week 43/52 – life update mostly

Knitting

Shawls

My Little Gemstones shawl now has 28 gems done, 50 more to do.  I’m getting much faster at knitting each gem.

It is quite hard to photograph because it’s so wide but not got much depth.

Spinning

During this week’s social spinning I spun day 7 of my advent from World of Wool.   (I have 8 days left to spin.) This blend included some mohair and my goodness there’s fine fluff everywhere!!! Even my weaving has ended up getting some trapped in it.

Weaving

Inkle loom

Talking of weaving, I finally made a start on weaving my shoelaces.  They are going to take quite some time to weave I suspect.

Other News

This week some vegetable gardening was done. It’s been sunny and dry but the wind has been cold so that’s made it nicer to walk to/from work and potter in the garden without overheating.

Finally I pushed myself to do some housework and laundry yesterday. There’s more to do today and the rest of the week, but at least I’m finally emerging from hibernation. In past years I swear I’ve had more energy and a better routine going. My husband visited his mum without me which helped give me some time.

My mammoth rewatch of House finished this week, 177 episodes plus a special behind the scenes episode. This has probably had a lot to do with why I’m behind on actual house things, but I did really enjoy it. One of my friends is doing a re-watch of Ally McBeal but I’m resisting. I’ll leave that until late autumn when it’s time to hibernate again. 😂

My husband suggested I see what comedians are performing locally and book some tickets. My childhood crush, singer Paul Young, is playing in June and before I knew it I’d bought us tickets. I’m excited! The only scrapbook I’ve ever had I filled with pictures of him cut from magazines. I did go on to book tickets to see some comedians, Sue Perkins and Josh Widdicombe, but those are for 2026.

This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 14th year, but this is my 7th year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, as you’d be very welcome to join us.
