Shawls
This blog is becoming a little Groundhog Day-ish. The only thing I’ve worked on is my Little Gemstones shawl. I am enjoying the project so much that I’ve now also purchased her Gemstones Cowl pattern and have found yarn in my stash to use.

I have two more rows to do, assuming I’m doing ok for yarn as I’ve excluded some colours.
I will try to work on another project next week too, otherwise this will be a snooze-fest for my readers.
Other News
I realised my lack of energy over recent months is likely down to how much sugar I’ve been consuming. On Thursday my sugar intake was so crazy, by bedtime I was in such a post sugar slump and feeling guilty I bought the “Good Sugar, Bad Sugar: Eat Yourself Free of Sugar and Carb addiction book” by Allen Carr. I finished listening to it yesterday but I am going to listen again and jot down some notes and then implement it. I skipped having cake and potatoes yesterday so a small start in the meantime.
Talking of books, my husband and I started listening to Jeremy Renner’s memoir “My Next Breath”. Goodness me it’s beyond a miracle he is alive after being crushed by an enormous (14,000lb) snowplough/cat. The audiobook has the actually recording of the 911 call, I had tears in my eyes listening to it. We are almost a third of the way through it. He says at the beginning it is a book he didn’t want to write, hearing him talk about that day makes you realise why and you can hear the emotion in his voice. His will to live is extraordinary.
This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 14th year, but this is my 7th year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, as you’d be very welcome to join us.
We read his account of the accident in the Sunday Times with sketches ,chilling 😶

Are the gemstones easy to knit? It’s a lovely effect.
Reducing sugar and carbs is a great way to increase your energy and health. You can do it! I allow myself a cheat day so I don’t lose my mind and binge.

Thanks. The pattern says W&T but I’m doing German Short Rows and find it easy…probably could stop counting the stitches now but I like the habit of it now.

Agree, love the gemstone pattern and lots of colors. Sounds like a good book. I’d only be able to read it because I know he survives and thrives.

Wow you are really making progress on your gemstones shawl! Love the colors, it’s really pretty. Love seeing it stretched out so we can see how it’s coming! I bet that would look good as a gradient as well!!!

That shawl is gorgeous! I can see why you’ve wanted to focus on it. That’s one I would probably make with black as the outline color, as I love the look of stained glass. 😁
And thanks for the audiobook recommendations – Jeremy Renner’s story really is miraculous. I remember when it happened, how scary it was. I think it’s therapeutic for him to write about it – the more you share it, the easier it is to put the worst feelings behind you. And his physical recovery is also quite miraculous – I saw a TV commercial he made with his daughter where he was able to move as nimbly as before.

Thanks, when I ordered the kit I didn’t know the contrast colour of the full skein. I think I may have preferred black or off white but as it is I think it looks like grass around flower beds 😂

Well he looks very handsome on the front cover so they did great work fixing him. He’s such a lovely guy, I liked him so much when he was interviewed on Armchair Expert podcast a few year’s ago (before the accident) and on an episode where those twin designer/builders fixed up celebrity friends or family homes and Jeremy had them do up his mum’s. Sweet guy.

Your shawl is just beautiful! I can see why you want to do more with that technique 🙂 I didn’t know J Renner had written a book about the accident. That has to be hard to hear!
