Review:

This was my first fibre advent from World of Wool and I would highly recommend it. The theme was “Christmas Characters Old & New”. It came in a large black box with magnetic clasp, each of the little packages were sealed and a joy to open each day. The box came with a booklet which had details of the % split of the yarns in the pack and some information/story about the character and how it inspired the colour and fibre choices. Really well thought out, beautifully presented.

As for the spinning, I did most of them on my EEW Nano 2 wheel and plied on my Ashford Traveller. Day 24’s luxury blend I spun and plied on my Ashford Traveller.

I have a real aversion to the feel of Gotland so my least favourite to spin was definitely Day 8. My favourite…well Day 24 feels amazing, but they were all nice to spin. Day 17 Cheeses for Meeces Blue Faced Leicester, Milk Fibre and Eri Silk was a real stand out and has a beautiful sheen. Honestly though I enjoyed them all (except day 8).

The convenience of going to a Guild Day or spinning group or a friends to spin and just grabbing a couple of packets to take with me was really great. I will definitely miss that aspect and I’ve had a thought to put some other fibres from my stash in the little packets.

As for what I will knit out of all these…I have no idea! It will all join my ever growing handspun stash and eventually go into a project.

  1. That is a lovely collection of different fibers, and how neat that each is connected to a Christmas character 🙂 I’m glad out of all those fibers you only had one you didn’t like!
