YOP15 Week 8/52 – finished poncho

Knitting

Tuesday night was spin group but I was frantically trying to knit a 6″ square there, to go in our Guild’s blanket that is being produced. I did it corner to corner to make sure it was right….it wasn’t, its too big! I had missed the deadline too. Its baby camel and silk…maybe too soft as a coaster, a perfect blanket for a mouse 😆

I have finished knitting my poncho and that is being blocked. Given lots of dye kept rubbing off on my fingers whilst knitting it, I imagined lots of dye would come out when I washed it…it didn’t!   Very happy with it though.  I will do a separate post about it, with all the details, once its dry.

Other News

After my post last week we took my boss’s dog to the beach and had such a lovely day.  We are borrowing her tomorrow too 🐕❤️.

Neighbours must have loved all the squeaking 😆

On Monday evening I did my 2 hours on the scooter with the instructor behind me and in my ear.  I realise its definitely not for me. A woman walked in front of me, a guy with a dog lead crossing my side of the road and the dog blocking the other side, vans driving crazy on roundabouts.  Going 40mph felt like 70mph.

I got my certificate so if I change my mind I can drive one for upto 2 years with no further tests required.

Last night we were at a friend’s wedding and got back quite late.

Unfortunately my mother in law is back in hospital. We are really hoping she will get a place in a care home soon.

This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 15th year, but this is my 8th year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, as you’d be very welcome to join us.

Year 15 list.

  1. The poncho did turn out great. Great color. Stuart Little would love the blanket. Good to know that motorbike riding is not for you. My son did buy one for his birthday last week and rode it to his job for the first time Friday. The brakes take a long time to work in so he literally wasn’t able to stop for a red light. Thankfully he wasn’t hit. The other teachers are making fun of him since it’s basically a big moped instead of a motorcycle. But it’s a cheap way to get to work on good weather days.

  2. You’ve got a lot going on! I’m glad you got to spend some time with a dog 🙂 Your cape is just lovely – your color and your style! I’m so sorry to hear about your MIL! I hope she can get in a care home – it sounds like that will be the best thing for her safety. And I’m sorry the scooter idea did not work out, but as you say you have a cert now so can pick it back up if you decide you want to.

  3. LOL, let me know if you adopt a mouse! The poncho looks very cool and will be warm this winter :).

I love the sheep your bosses dog is carrying, so cute.

I’m sorry your mother in law is in the hospital again, :(. I hope she feels better soon.

I hate roundabouts. We have a ton of them now, they cost 5 mil each and they should put that into fixing the roads instead of those things. I’ve driven on them before in TN but the people in this little town don’t understand or don’t care how they drive through them. I say bring back the lights. We even have one that is only one car length between entrances on a busy road. A lot of people won’t yield, they follow bumper to bumper so they just shoot through them not letting the others who trying to get through. They need a police car to sit there handing out tickets for a couple of weeks so people can figure out what yield means!!

  4. Sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. That’s stressful for everyone and I hope she can get placement somewhere soon. (We are struggling with the same thing with MY MIL too – it’s that stage of life I guess?) Your poncho looks so good and that little blanket square is such a cheerful sunshine yellow!

  5. A lovely poncho. I doubt the mouse blanket will get much use lol. Doesn’t sound like the scooter was as “fun” as you were hoping for. That’s too bad. So sorry to hear your MIL.is back in the hospital. Did I miss the post about her parrot being rehomed? Your boss’ dog looks lime it would be a lot of fun to play with.
