I did an FO post for my Coorie in Poncho on Friday with more details and post blocking photos. Really happy with it and think I will wear it a lot.
Spinning
Yesterday our Guild had an open day at the end of our week long exhibition of Guild members’ work. I had entered my breed study and Minion band.
I spun some Charollais sheep fleece but mostly I seemed to just chat. I taught one of the newer members how to chain ply and caught up with friends.
Weaving
Dorset Button
This week I wove the Dorset Button Festive Wall Hanging Kit from TJ Frog. Its about 13cm/5″. The kit included everything needed for the project, including needles. The yarns are Portland and Poll Dorset & Hebridian mix. She sources the yarns from Scotland and Dorset. There was some silver ribbon in this kit too. I highly recommend her kits.
Although this one is in the Festive options, I have hung it on the wall in our hallway.
There was plenty of yarns and ribbon left and even some spare beads so I will be able to do another with a spare loop I have.
Inkle loom
On Thursday evening a friend from spinning group came over, as she wanted my help to design a tablet weaving pattern of a Highland Cow/Heilan Coo. We did a design for tablets with 4 holes and another for 6 holes. She is going to see how she gets on with those and we can tweak the pattern if they don’t look right. If they work then I will share the pattern(s).
Other News
After publishing last week’s post we went to visit my MIL in hospital and then had a lovely afternoon in Lossiemouth. It was a beautiful sunny but breezy day. We had an ice cream, a walk and watched some learner surfers venturing out.
On Monday we were both off work and borrowed my bosses’ dog and took her to Shandwick beach. (My bosses are a married couple in case anyone thinks my apostrophe is wrong).
It was a warm day but occasionally overcast which was ideal. Honey (the dog) wouldn’t lie down at all, even when we hid her ball she went swimming in the sea to go fetch a spaniel’s ball.
Yesterday when my husband picked me up from our Guild’s open meeting in Inverness we went to play mini golf 😀. I love mini golf and it seems ages since we played.
So it has been a very fun but quite tiring week, I seemed to sleep through most of the Grand Prix qualifying oops.

Thanks yes we enjoyed playing it and weirdly haven’t played there before. Usually we do it when we are on holiday and spot one. We will be back to that one though…took 13 hits on one of the holes 😂

Oh the Dorset Button is adorable and such talent to create it. It is always fun to do things with your spouse that you both enjoy.

What a wonderful week. My son his girlfriend played mini golf for his birthday recently. We usually get a game in when we are in Florida.

Cute Dorset buttons. You are so nice to help others with their spinning and weaving. Mini golf is so much fun. Honey is so lucky to have you around. She looks like she had a grand time at the beach.

Those wall hangings are really nice! Is your shoulder still getting better? I am hoping you will be able to do those beautiful lamp shades you enjoy felting.
Mini golf is fun, so is being at the beach. However I don’t go in the water, I watch shark week to remind me why I don’t want to go in the water, LOL. But siting and knitting would be relaxing :).

I have been trying to do more stretching exercises of my shoulder recently as the thawing seems to have stalled. I could do with making some as my stash for them takes up so much space. We don’t get sharks here, only Basking ones that are harmless. The water is really cold here though, too cold for me to brave the sea.

I hope your shoulder keeps healing and quits stalling :P. When I broke the knuckle under my little finger (stupid fall at the drs office lol), after the cast was off and they made me start moving my fingers (oh my gosh so not fun!) It was stiff for a long time I had clay I had to work in my hand several times a day, I was sure it would never quit being stiff, but eventually it was, so don’t give up!!!!

Catching up… I came in here from a later post to see your Dorset Button. That does look like it would be fun to make. I love the pictures of you and your husband. And I like how you relax. How nice to have a beach and sea so handy. 🙂
