Here is my wrap-up post of Year 15.
This has been my least productive of the 8 years in this group, but that is okay, no-one is judging and these lists can change and aren’t set in stone and it doesn’t matter if things get forgotten about or carried over for umpteen years and new projects get added. Anything goes really.
Here’s a reminder of my icon meanings:
- โช๏ธ list item carried over from a previous YOP year
- *๏ธโฃ started previous YOP year
- โณ๏ธ started this YOP year
- โ finished ๐ week finished
- ๐ added after week 1
- โผ๏ธ abandoned
- ๐ธ frogged
NB. There are links to the Ravelry pattern or project page.
My main overall target for YOP 15 was to make the most of the yarn, fibre and other craft supplies that I have in my craftroom. I feel like I did pretty well on this but could do better, and will continue to try to utilise what I already have.
Acquisitions/Collection Curation
- โ NO new knitting yarns.
Success!! I didn’t buy any knitting yarns in the last 52 weeks! Woohoo! I feel like I no longer have the knitting yarn buying hobby. I have purchased weaving yarns during the year, but I have enough of those now to create some interesting and practical projects, so think I could try No new yarns for YOP16.
- โผ๏ธNO new fibre โผ๏ธ
Total fail, I ordered a fibre advent and some other fibres!
๐๏ธAir Dry Clay
- ๐๏ธโ ๏ธMinions from Kit: Kevin, Evil Minion, Stuart and Otto ๐wk49, Dave & Fluffy, Bob & Tim ๐wk50.
- ๐๏ธโ ๏ธMinions using existing toys to copy ๐wk50.
This was a new category and something that took me a couple of years to actually get started on but I have enjoyed this. Not a hobby I will continue long term but definitely fun to have a go at.
๐๏ธBooknook
Another new category and there’ll definitely be at least one more of these in YOP16 because I have already purchased one with some birthday money.
Crochet
- ๐โ Dishcloth ๐wk4
I keep thinking about doing a bigger crochet project but all I managed to do this year is one dishcloth! To be honest it was a little firm of texture and I prefer the knitted ones. Maybe one crochet project a year is good enough.
Dyeing
- Practice microwave acid dyeing.
The garage is even more cluttered than it was when I wrote this on my list a year ago. I am a long way from finding the space in the garage to do some dyeing but I will optimistically carry this over to YOP16.
Felting
- Ylva *๏ธโฃYOP9!
- Handbag (or bowl) using felting ball *๏ธโฃYOP11
My felting mojo was totally absent this last year! I definitely will keep it on my list because I feel sure once I have done some felting again my mojo will return!
Knitting
- Finish WIPs
- โ ๏ธCoorie in Poncho *๏ธโฃYOP14 Wk38๐wk8
- ๐๏ธโ ๏ธLittle Gemstones Cowl ๐wk19
- 3 garments from Ravelry queue
- โ Selfish Pullover #2 ๐wk24
- Socks
- โ ๏ธDK socks in WYS ๐wk29
- ๐โ Litmus cowl in baby camel & silk handspun ๐wk35
- ๐โ October hat in Jamiesonโs Heather Aran ๐wk40
- ๐Hitchhiker by Martina Behm using handspun BFL & silk โณ๏ธstarted wk49
- Make husband something with green New Lanark yarn โช๏ธYOP13
- One pair of mittens from the book Tantulltussmittens โช๏ธYOP14
- Gnome
Very few finished objects this year, my knitting mojo went on holiday for a couple of months. I have previously managed to knit 3 garments in a year, this year only one chunky wool jumper! I suppose we could count the poncho as a garment?? I do think the fact that I have sooooo many finished jumpers I can wear definitely slowed me down on creating more.
Sewing
- โ Bunting for sunroom ๐wk38
- Make an item of clothing โช๏ธYOP13
I do love the bunting that is in the sunroom, and some over the kitchen window too. It just adds a bit of cheer to windows which don’t have any curtains. Still haven’t managed to sew a garment though! I have the fabric, I have the patterns, I just need to have a go!
Spinning
- โ ๏ธTour de Fleece 2025 ๐wk4 (Norahโs pink fibres)
- โ January Spin Challenge 2026
- Other spinning
Probably my most successful area during the year has been my spinning. I don’t really tend to spin alone, only on my weekly spinning calls, Guild or spinning group meetings or at friends’ houses.
Weaving
Dorset Buttons
- โ ๏ธLarger button kit ๐wk9
- ๐๏ธโ ๏ธCotton Large Dorset Button ๐wk18
- ๐โ Sparkly Dorset Button ๐wk25
- ๐โ Pink scrap yarn Dorset button ๐wk36
- ๐โ Couple of Dorset buttons ๐wk49
- Christmas Garland kit
These have no purpose really but I do like making them and they are great for using up some tiny bits of leftover yarn.
Rigid heddle loom
- โ Try at least one 3 heddle project on my 10โ Sampleit โช๏ธYOP14 ๐wk34 Three heddle sampler from Inventing Weaving book.
- ๐โ Learn how to convert 4 shaft patterns to 3 heddle projects for RH ๐wk36
- Hand/dish towels โช๏ธYOP14 โ ๏ธEarl Grey Tea-towel + another ๐wk39
- โผ๏ธ
๐Project with BFL/Mulberry Silk handspun
Finally I had a go at some 4 shaft patterns on my rigid heddle looms using 3 heddles! Although this was only carried over from YOP14, it has been on my mind to do for many years. There is so much stuff on my craftroom floor still to sort and donate or sell that I haven’t managed to do more weaving since then. Once my floor is clear I will warp up for some new tea towels. I have crossed out the BFL/Mulberry Silk weaving project, as I am now using that on my knitted Hitchhiker shawl.
Inkle loom
- Tablet weaving projects (including shoelaces and belts/straps)
- โ ๏ธGreen and blue shoelaces๐wk21
- Pick-up pattern from book
I love my shoelaces and for sure will make more!
Tapestry
- Tapestry weaving project โช๏ธYOP13
I haven’t given this a proper go yet, the warp is on my tapestry loom and I just need to start it.
Other News
This week I did my Lego Despicable Me Gruโs House and Tiki Bar. It was fun to do, I just wish it had taken a bit longer.

We live so far north we are luckily missing out on the crazy heatwave that England and further south in Scotland are getting. I am very relieved as I donโt do well in the heat. Yesterday it was 22ยฐC but with a lovely breeze and thatโs perfect for me.
We are looking after a dog the next two weeks and took her to the beach. I am really hoping this gets me a bit fitter and moving more.
Yesterday I ordered the Lojan Flex 8 shaft loom! I have been thinking about it for a while, on my weaving group I mentioned it and said โbut I donโt need itโ, those wonderful enabling ladies reminded me it isnโt about needing it, itโs about wanting it and the joy of the lovely things I will make on it ๐. I am sure they will help me get started, once it arrives. YOP16 should bring some fancier tea towels and maybe some place mats and Christmas presents!
Anyway, this post is long enough. Thanks for following my crafting journey for another year of projects. Whilst it hasnโt been the most productive of years, I am happy with all that I have made this year. Next week I will share my plans for year 16!
This was a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group has just finished its 15th year, my 8th year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, as youโd be very welcome to join us.
Your year looks pretty productive to me, Liz. But I know what you mean. I find these end-of-year posts to be very encouraging and I always realize I did more than I thought I did. Your Lego Gru’s house looks like fun!

Yes, I am glad I draft it during the year, it would be so easy to have just tried writing it now and forgotten what I did manage to do.

You do sooo many crafts that it certainly sounded very productive to me. Maybe just not what you “typically” have worked on. I get the “too many sweaters” problem. I’m already wondering what I’m going to knit since I already am starting to have garments that just don’t get worn much. I enjoy living vicariously through your spinning and weaving as I continue to avoid “hobby spread”.

I am hopeless at hobby spread, I saw a video on people doing acrylic pouring paintings and have now bought more paint and a canvas to make a piece of art to hang over my bed! I keep meaning not to start something new and then I am “ooh Squirrel!” lol

I LOVE pour art!!! A former co-worker used to sell paintings. I have one hanging on our main floor and my son bought 2 as a gift to his girlfriend. It’s perfect for my preference for abstract art and beautiful colors.

A very productive year for you. Especially in the spinning area. I think we will see more weaving coming up. You are doing so well with it too! Looking forward to #16

Wow girl, you got so much done!!! I got our temps on my blog, glad for my air conditioner, the muggy meter on the weather station says sweltering!
I’m still trying to get my fiber ready for Tour de Fleece, the motivation isn’t there yet, maybe if I make myself get ready it will suddenly appear.

Thanks :). I can’t decide whether to spin my fibre advent from 2025 which I have 22 days left to spin…or to make up some blends from various bits I have. I am only spinning on days when we have calls to join or spin group, rather than every day. Time will tell I guess!
