Taking a blogging break

I need to take a wee break from blogging at the moment. There’s just too much non-crafting stuff going on right now.

Considering how tiny my MIL’s house is (40ft x 20ft), there is soooooooooooo much stuff to get rid of and sort through. Her neighbour is going to try to get rid of some of my MIL’s stuff at a car boot sale for charity. We had to remove a lot of stuff now to get it fit for photos and viewings as it goes on the market this week. So now our house is full of boxes, stacks of paperwork and suitcases. One case had 41 pairs of leggings in! She had 10 duvets in a 2 bedroom place! At least 10 fluffy blankets. A dozen cushions in wardrobes many with tags still on. So much money she wasted on repeat purchases, clearly her dementia was around way longer than we thought.

We don’t have the time nor the energy to sell all these things. It’s exhausting sorting your own stuff, never mind someone else’s. So what we don’t keep for her to wear and to decorate her nursing home room (when she finally gets in one) will all go to the charity car boot sale and charity shops.

It has also made me feel a bit overwhelmed with my own stuff as well. Half of one of our wardrobes is stand up paddle board stuff but it seems like all the people I used to paddle with no longer do…so maybe I should sell my stuff. Also I don’t think either of my wetsuits would fit any more.

All I have been doing craft wise is playing around with some mercerised cotton and a 5” hoop making a Dorset button that is a bit busy looking and is really just to occupy my hands whilst I am at Guild and spinning group.

We have a holiday towards the end of the month and I would really like to get as many things sorted as possible before we go, so that when we get back our house doesn’t look such a cluttered mess of her stuff. In October I have a lot on as well and have friends over from the US, a very long overdue visit to my sister’s for my nephew’s 21st.

My aim is to be back blogging towards the end of October.

This copyright free photo is a perfect representation of how I feel 😂 except we don’t have all that space on the right!

  1. Will miss you but definitely take a break. Totally understand about not wanting the hassle of trying to sell items even when it’s hard to donate brand new things. (My MIL also had sooo much unopened linens and never worn clothes. Shopping was her entertainment.) Sorry to hear the paddleboarding has fizzled.

  2. We will still be here so take care of all the things you need to do and don’t stress your self out too much, takes breaks from sorting as needed to catch your breath, and when you feel stressed, do some deep breathing, it really does help :). A breath in slowly (count to 10 as you breath in) and the same for the breath out, do that 7 to 10 times, it will actually help lower your blood pressure.
