I ordered a raddle for my loom that arrived this week, in time for me to warp my loom.
Spinning
Another lovely sociable spinning week, with our local spin group meeting on Tuesday night, a zoom call on Wednesday night and then a lovely Friday afternoon at a friend’s house where a few of us spun and ate delicious home bakes. I have the final Tour de Fleece call later today when I will hopefully finish another of the advent days.

Weaving
8-Shaft Loom
I found an interesting article about laying out your warp, on a warping board, with crosses at both ends. One to ease threading and the other end to ease spacing your warp across your raddle. This worked great and I will definitely use it again.
The yarn that I chose to test the loom on is really not ideal. It is singles yarn on huge spools that come from the Isle of Harris and are used in tweed making. It still has some grease in it, it is very grippy, the colours that I have don’t have great colour contrast against each other. But I have a lot of it and have learned so much from this whole process and having a play around with some patterns. Some are working, others aren’t showing up.
Once I have finished weaving this sample I will warp it with cotton to make some tea towels. In the meantime, here’s some patterns I have tried.
Other News
Sooo much of my available time has been learning how to warp an 8 shaft and warping it, so not a lot else to report. However, on Friday morning a friend and I went on the Inverness Castle Experience which we enjoyed. We had lunch there too which was nice.
