Pattern summary

A pretty simple pattern to follow. I made size E but I did make some alterations as follows:

  • Cast on colour using K1, P1, (*K2, P1), K1 on size 3.5mm needles and knitted 8 rows. The pattern is for a rolled stocking stitch but I don’t like a loose neck and others mentioned the rolled collar shows the stranded side of the colour-work.
  • I then started the Yoke (missing 2 plain rows) 4mm needles.
  • After the yoke I switched to 3.75mm needles for the body, used 4mm for the sleeves as I always knit those at a tighter gauge for some reason.
  • When measuring yoke from cast on edge I instead used the end of the rib collar to measure from.
  • I skipped the final hip shaping increases , as my hips aren’t that big (I’m apple shaped). I added more length to the body.
  • I knitted 12 rows of rib on cuffs and hem with 3.5mm needles and used Invisible Ribbed Sewn bind off.

Yarn Summary

If you are a long time follower you will know I love and use New Lanark yarns a lot…for jumpers and mittens and a felted bag. It’s a great sturdy yarn. It’s very warm and it does soften when washed and worn. It’s easy to knit with as it doesn’t split and it doesn’t pill as much as any other yarns I’ve used. It’s 100% British Wool spun on a hydro powered ancient mill in Scotland. What’s not to love?!

Photo Gallery

This took forever to dry and so I’m sorry about the photo quality but I wanted to get this published this evening. I may add better day time photos to Ravelry at a later date.
