YOP13 Week 40/53 – end of 3rd quarter

I’d usually do my 3rd quarterly update week 39, but as this is a 53 week YOP year I’ve moved it to this week. You’ll find the snapshot at the bottom of this post, but it’s mostly for my records.

Felting

I needle felted 4 more baubles and dropped those at the Alchemist Gallery on Wednesday. (The photos are a little washed out it seems.)

I’ve also made a wreath too. I’ll need to check if they are interested in selling that. It’s a while since I made one but I have sold some other similar ones a few years ago.

Knitting

Other/household

I finished my Gansey Afghan by Lena Skaverson. There’s a separate FO post with the details.  I am really happy with it.

Weaving

Rigid heddle loom

I’ve started a sample of the Diamond Stripe towel pattern but using some West Yorkshire Spinners Exquisite Lace yarn (80% Falkland merino/20% silk).  I’m using two 12.5 dpi heddles on my 10″ loom and so far it seems to be going well.  It’s only a small amount as I wanted to check it was going to be okay, it may be enough to make a headband.

I’ve made a few tea towels using this pattern using 8/2 cotton but thought a shawl in this pattern would be nice, but wasn’t sure enough to warp my 32″ loom.  I only have 1 skein of each colour so it won’t be huge when I make the shawl/scarf.

Other News

I seem to have eaten a lot this week…I’ll be glad when Easter is over and hot cross buns and chocolate eggs are no longer being sold..I have no willpower with them.

When I haven’t been eating I’ve made a small start on preparing the garden for vegetable planting.  I discovered quite a few potatoes that I hadn’t dug up.  I’ll be planting some seeds this coming week.

Now for the snapshot of my progress by the end of Q3 of my YOP year. A lot of items were moved to on hold because when I wrote the list I wasn’t working and then worked for 7 months which took a lot of my crafting time. The on hold items are indicated with a Pause button icon ⏸️

  1. You have done well especially since you were working so much of the period. I LOVE your wreath!!! I’m thinking it would make an amazing frame for someone’s photo from their trip to the area. The bobbles with sheep are sooo cute.

    • Last time I put a wreath in the shop I did put a wee card with it with suggested uses and a photo frame was one. Maybe I’ll print another wee card for this and take it with me to the gallery. Thanks for reminding me.

  2. That wreath is so cute. I could see using a skinny ribbon to hang it and maybe making a tiny bow out of the ribbon to add to the top. So many ideas for it. It is fun to see you weaving again. Good job on your yearly list so far.
