YOP13 Week 45/53 – oops!

Knitting

Jumpers/cardigans

Remember last week when I said that the needle cord was distorting the shape of my Avena jumper…well nope it wasn’t. The jumper truly was totally the wrong shape and ginormous on me so I had to frog it. It was a full 3 pattern repeats too big (36 stitches on 4mm needles).  I should have paid more attention to it earlier and looked at how many stitches my Fern and Feather had in the same yarn and I’d have realised how out I was.

So instead of knitting size D which I was, I’m now knitting size A. Apparently gauge matters 🤣😂🤣

I frogged it on Sunday lunchtime and it took until Tuesday night for me to have the energy to start again. I don’t do well with making such silly mistakes. Ah well I’m over it and at least making the smaller size should mean a lot less knitting to do.

Spinning

I had my spin and chat call this week, so started on the darker blue baby camel and silk.  It’s not finished yet.

Other News

My picture shelf is now up above my desk, thanks to my helpful neighbour. I’m really happy with how it looks and my new lamps fit perfectly beneath it. I plan to buy a smaller shelf now for where my loom is but haven’t ordered it yet.

Here’s a sneak peak.

The lights have 5 brightness/3 colour mode settings, this is them on their lowest setting.  It’s a small window in my craftroom so quite dark in there but this should now be perfect for laying out fibres for my lampshades and doing other crafts.

This week was mostly decluttering the garage, in the garden (latest garden post here) or playing Uncharted 4 on the PS4.  It’s the first time in years (since 2017!) I’ve played anything on there and I finished the whole game in a few days…its clearly still addictive and I’ll probably not switch it back on for another year or so.  Time absolutely flies when playing it…the stats kindly tell me I spent 22 hrs 37 mins and 9 seconds playing it!!!   Just think how much of my jumper I could have re-knit in those hours 🙈

This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 13th year, but this is my 6th year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, as you’d be very welcome to join us. (There are 53 Sundays this YOP year, it happens sometimes!).

Year 13 list.

  1. I’m sorry about the sweater, but at least as you say much less knitting so you should be able to make up the time!

The shelf and lighting looks great – although I don’t want them gone, a craft room would be incredible!!

  2. Sorry you had to frog the sweater, gauge is a cruel mistress sometimes. The shelf and desk look great! Its always such a great feeling to get a functional space set up how you want it.

  3. Oh for goodness sakes, are we joined by some cosmic connection?? You will see from my post I also had a “slap your head” mistake this week. It is a beautiful jumper so hopefully you are enjoying the smaller size. Your new craft space looks so inviting. What a wonderful area.

  4. How to choose… fun with something unproductive to get your brain in a different rut (Uncharted) or productive (but sometimes frustrating) knitting??? I do sudoku for recreation when I get tired of knitting, or bored. We all need something – otherwise, knitting can be too much like work!

  5. Glad you are back on track with your sweater – but ugh… a lot of knitting to frog! Great use of that space for your shelf/lights. I’ll bet having that extra reflected light off the wall helps too.

  6. So glad you discovered the gauge error before you had the body worked up on the jumper. I like your crafting area. Those lights will be perfect for working with fibers for lampshades.

  7. Oh, Liz… that had to be painful. It’s back to looking like the beautiful beginnings of a jumper again, though, so you recovered well. Your desk set up looks like the perfect place for work and inspiration.
