YOP14 Week 8/52 – reassessing my list

Some of you may have seen my post earlier this week that I have Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis).  At the moment I’m in the painful freezing stage so working on many projects on my list are going to be a no go for the foreseeable.   Then when I’m in the frozen stage I’ll have to see what’s possible.

Certainly, working on jumpers or big heavy projects have been bumped to the bottom of the list.  Making lampshades is definitely not possible.

Working on smaller projects seems doable though and some of my long ignored, often carried forward from one year to the next projects seem perfect as they are right arm mostly/only.

  • Needle felting a version of my dog I started 5 years ago!
  • Needle felting a Highland Cow I started 5 years ago!
  • Watercolour painting I’ve been meaning to restart doing for the last 3 years!
  • Pastel drawing I’ve been meaning to do more of the last 2 years!

I also have some small knitting projects on the go and some new gnome patterns that should be manageable.  Obviously time will tell.  I have been thinking about rejoining the local camera club as photography would be doable.

It’s hard to know how long it is going to last so I’ll just have to see.  My future updates are probably going to be shorter than historically, but I like the routine of posting each week and catching up on my fellow YOPers.

This week I managed an hour of spinning with a friend on a call and have added some rows to my new The Shift cowl.  The progress keeper shows what I’ve been able to add since last week.

This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 14th year, but this is my 7th year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, as you’d be very welcome to join us.

  1. I am so sorry to hear about your shoulder – it sounds very painful and limiting. Good idea to focus on the positive side – picking up smaller long not worked projects.

  2. I’m sorry to hear about your shoulder. I hope you are able to find items you can still work on. Photography sounds like it would be fun to get back into.

  3. Hopefully you will be able to get your shoulder back to normal without surgery! Photography would be fun to do. Lots of creative ways to us a camera. You have a very positive outlook which is half the battle.

  4. I am so worry to hear about your shoulder, Liz. I know nothing about the stages of frozen shoulder, but it sounds like you must be receiving care. I’m glad you can find some things you can do that give you pleasure. I hope you’re feeling better soon.

  5. Well, I think with your shoulder that shift cowl looks like it made quite a bit of progress, and still looking good :).

I will look forward to seeing your felted animals, I have seen some of the most detailed and realistic felted animals that are amazing! Paintings would be good too! Looking forward to seeing what you decide to work on and their progress. 🙂
