YOP14 Week 36-37/52 – Tablet weaving FO

There was no post from me last Sunday because I literally didn’t knit a single stitch or do any crafting that week!  More on why later.

Acquisitions/Collection Curation

I was sorting through my yarn stash this week and had everything out and was reorganising my drawers. I felt overwhelmed seeing it all and easily have enough knitting yarn to last for many many years.  The annual Dornich Fibre Fest was this weekend and I managed to resist buying any yarn or fibre, remembering how much I already have.

There’s a joke amongst knitters that buying yarn and knitting with it are two totally separate hobbies. I really feel like my buying knitting yarn hobby has come to an end for the foreseeable.

Knitting

Accessories

I was struggling to find my knitting mojo after a week without knitting. So, I thought I’d cast on a quick-ish project using some handspun Rambouillet. The pattern is the Fisker Cowl. I’ve made it before with chunky wool and changed the construction slightly too.

This time I’m just following the pattern and enjoying the fisherman’s rib. The Rambouillet is so soft and squishy it is perfect for this pattern.  Its not finished yet but here’s a sneak peak so far.  It will loop round twice eventually, it has a provisional cast on.

Spinning

I have spun (but not yet plied) one of my advent bundles. I will show it next week once its plied.  I had a lovely day at our Guild meeting. There weren’t many of us there which meant we could chat all as one or separately which was nice.

Weaving

Inkle loom

I finished weaving the pink and plum cotton that I’ve now handsewn into a belt (since taking this photo).

Other News

We were on holiday in Kingairloch which we have been to twice before and I’ve previously blogged about on my travel blog. We had a fabulous and relaxing week, saw an otter, pine marten, wild goats including some babies/kids, tons of deer and seals. We walked, ate lots and I beat my husband twice playing Canasta Bolivia…he usually beats me so I was thrilled.

My MIL was finally discharged from hospital this week and has various support workers popping in to make sure she is getting up, eating, going to bed etc. We will have to see how that goes.

This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 14th year, but this is my 7th year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, as you’d be very welcome to join us.

Year 14 list.

    • Thanks. It is hard and exhausting having the worry all the time. Shoelaces will be my next project, I think I will look for one that is the same on both sides, so that when they are tied they don’t look odd. I must remember to put on enough for 2 shoelaces next time 😆

  1. The idea os yarn buying and using the board as being 2 hobbies cracked me up. I am an expert on the first one. Your cowl is going to be really soft and squishy. Love the colors too. Your belt turned out good too. So glad to hear your MIL is out and has help as needed.

  2. I think that is the same joke for spinners, and I can buy it much faster than I can spin it. I am S.A.B.L.E. in spinning fiber, lol I have many plastic totes full of spinning fiber, so I had to stop buying it, tho I’m am very tempted!! I wonder if spinning fiber and yarn are considered a drug!

I will look forward to your finished cowl from the Rambouillet. My spinning wheel is calling to me, but I need to finish 2 knit items first.

Your tablet weaving is really pretty. Will make a nice belt!
