The last four years I have done an end of year summary, not just crafting items, but holidays and events. This is mostly for my own records.
The year in numbers
- 123 creative projects:
- 59 felted
- 25 lampshades
- 14 fairies
- 9 Tomte/gnomes
- 8 baubles
- 1 jubilee pouch
- 1 jubilee mat
- 1 wastepaper bin
- 13 finished knitted projects
- 5 sock pairs
- 3 jumpers
- 2 shawls
- 2 cowls
- 2 hats
- 16 baubles filled
- 12 fibres (or blends) spun (over 1 mile of finished yarns)
- 6 Dorset buttons made (or maybe more I lost count lol)
- 5 crocheted projects
- 4 dyed yarns or fibres
- 3 sewn projects
- 2 weaving projects producing 4 woven items
- 2 pastel drawings
- 1 wood turned fruit bowl
- 59 felted
- 41 books:
- 11 read (paper or kindle)
- 30 audiobooks
- 7 cinema visits
- 4 days out on Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP)
- 3 music concerts/festivals
- 3 countries visited
- 3 cottage/glampod breaks
- 1 Covid infection and 1 booster vaccination
- 1 hair cut
- 1 afternoon tea
Like the last couple of years, I have included at the bottom a yarn incoming -v- outgoing summary. You may wish to skip down to that section, as the monthly summary is really for my own records. I share it on here because itโs lovely (for me) to have to look back on, it helps remind me which year things happened and I may inspire others to do the same . (I draft this post during the year and add the totals at the end of the year.)
Edit: Now the December sales have been received I can now record total sales during the year: Lampshades 21 (13 x 20cm, 6 x 25cm, 1 x 35cm and 1 x 40cm), Fairies 17 (12 normal, 5 sparkly), 9 Tomte and 7 baubles. Sales are lower because I made less to begin with. All fairies were sold, all but 1 bauble and 1 tomte were sold. 8 lampshades remain in stock at the shop.

Yarn Usage Summary
Well its not great, I have more incoming than outgoing again. Although some of that is from projects I frogged and some is handspun. Next year I have no plans to visit any fibre festivals or yarn shops and I have projects planned that will be using stash. So I’m going to try to convince myself that next year I will use more and aim to buy less than one mile!
| Figures in miles! Total | Incoming (miles) | Outgoing (miles) | Net usage/year | Year ending stash |
| Pre-2019 | 7.97 | |||
| 2019 | 27.64 | 6.03 | 21.61 | 29.58 |
| 2020 | 22.12 | 5.41 | 16.70 | 46.29 |
| 2021 | 7.02 | 12.67 | -5.64 | 40.65 |
| 2022 | 8.38 | 4.77 | 3.61 | 44.26 |
1.1 miles of 2022’s incoming yarn is handspun by me

An eventful year!

I just have to ask – what’s a “glampod”?? I’m familiar with glamping, but I’ve never seen a pod in which to do it! And that’s the closest I can come to guessing… I especially like seeing the presumably hand knit hats in your photo montage.

Usually a glampod is a wood structure with very basic facilities, they often have an arched roof. Technically where we stayed was like a little box. There are pictures on this post. https://highlandheffalump.travel.blog/2022/06/12/50th-birthday-trip-part-4-loch-lomond/ They call it a glamping cabin. All hats are knitted by me๐. Happy New Year
