Acquisitions/Collection Curation
I managed to give away some of my stash yesterday, including some sari silk, throwsters waste silk and some sari cut ends waste. All suitable for others to use in a project, just bits I know I won’t use and are taking up some space.
Air Dry Clay
I have made more Minions! There is still tons more clay left, so suspect you may be seeing some more. I have also thrown in a Mike Wasawski…although he is missing arms and legs but he looked not quite right so I thought I’d save some green for a better attempt. I also had a go at making a rose too!
Fluffy the unicorn with Dave sitting on top, the Evil Minion and Bob holding Tim the teddy-bear were officially in the kit, the others I just had a go at copying other minions in my collection. I would say I definitely haven’t mastered it yet, especially the eyes but it is fun. Once it is used up I can’t see me buying more.

Knitting
Don’t faint folks, but I have actually cast on a new knitting projects. It is a Hitchhiker shawl by Martina Behm (my 4th). I had started one a few weeks back with superwash wool but I just don’t like the feel of superwash yarn in garter stitch. So I am using the handspun Jellyfish Sprite blend that I finished in week 30, Bluefaced Leicester and Mulberry Silk. I have only just made a start on it so will save the photo until there’s a bit more progress next week.
Whilst I had my swift, yarn length measurer tool and ball winder out, to turn this handspun from skein to cake ready to knit with, I caked up most of my handspun. Am I sure that all of that yarn I caked up had been soaked and had its twist set? Nope 😬
Spinning
Yesterday, at the Guild, I attended a Luxury Fibre spinning workshop. It was a really nice day and we had a go at spinning a variety of fibres: Dehaired baby camel top, bleached camel down, Angora rabbit top, Angora rabbit cut fluff!, some carded alpaca, mohair curls that we combed ourselves and then some prepared mohair top. Then we moved on to silk preparations including degummed cocoons, silk hankies and tussah silk top.
I haven’t managed to ply it all yet, but I have chain plied the silks and mohair so far. I shall chain ply the rest later today.

Other News
This week flew by and as I write this I am struggling to remember where a lot of my time went…certainly not on laundry which will need climbing ropes to get to the top of that pile soon. I also didn’t manage to find time to read everyone else’s blog posts from last week, but I will catch up. Where the heck did my time go? I am sure it will come to me as soon as I click publish.
See you next week!
This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 15th year, but this is my 8th year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, as you’d be very welcome to join us.
Third try at commenting! Love the minions and the handspun. A Hitchhiker will be fab in your handspun, I look forward to seeing it 😊

Thanks, sorry you had issues…I get that regularly with trying to comment on Blogger…wish the two systems were more friendly with each other.

Hooray for more minions! Those are so cute! Hitchhiker is such a great pattern for summer and to get your knit mojo back.
Are you planning to participate in the TdF this year?

Yes, so far I have only spun 3 of my 25 Advent Days from last year, plus I have a nice blend my sister bought me last Christmas to spin. So at the moment that’s my plan for TDF. I will likely only spin on days when we have a call with US friend, zoom calls with Guild’s TDF group, spin group or Guild meetings as I pretty much don’t spin alone now! I have become a purely social spinner.

You Minions are so cute! I think the eyes look darn good. You have been busy spinning. Maybe that is where your time went?

I remembered we went to see Disclosure Day at the cinema one day after work, so that was one evening I’d totally forgotten what we did! Maybe the aliens wiped my memory lol

Your minions are so cute! I need to finish a bobbin and ply so I will have a wheel to use for TDF. I use to think when I was working that I could get so much more done when I retired, but it’s really the opposite, I got more done when I was working and had to schedule my time well, now it seems I’m always running errands.

Yeah its weird isn’t it, the busier you are the more you can cram into your day it seems. I discovered I hadn’t actually spinning all of one fibre that I thought I’d shared it as a FO, but I shall finish that at spin group tomorrow night and then my bobbins will be clear for TDF. I am really now just a social spinner but luckily we have a lot of zooms etc planned. 🙂

This is not related to crafts or knitting, but just to let you know that the US has fallen in love with The Tartan Army and all things Scottish. What a beautiful group has arrived on our shores. They really have brightened up life in Boston and beyond with their music, kindness, joy, and charm. The videos are everywhere. I’ll paste one here:

Its been my favourite thing this week, watching all the videos of the tartan army and them living their best lives and doing Scotland proud. I had seen the video you shared and had shown it to my husband last night. I am glad their joy has reached you too.
