Spinning
Continuing my January challenge of spinning non-wool fibres, this week I spun Ramie. Ramie is made from the nettle plant.
I appreciate there is very little visual difference between the banana and pineapple (from the last 2 weeks) and this week’s ramie. I would say it was a little harder on my fingers, had a longer staple (length of fibres) and is slightly more white and less sheen than the pineapple and banana. Apparently it is good for using as garden twine!

I also finished spinning the Bluefaced Leicester and Mulberry Silk. The blend was from World of Wool called Jellyfish Sprite. It is a little over 150g of sport weight. I need to set it and then can use it for a weaving project. It was black BFL and red silk.

Other News
It hasn’t been a very crafty week, other than spinning. I am still to decide on my next knitting project although I have pulled together some baby camel and silk handspun colours to use together.
On Wednesday I went to see the Nutcracker in Havana ballet which was such a lovely uplifting evening. Really enjoyed it and would recommend.
I did some planning for our next holiday but apart from that who knows where my time went this week!
This is a Year of Projects post. Officially the Group is in its 15th year, but this is my 8th year participating. If you would like to find more about the Year of Projects Group on Ravelry, as you’d be very welcome to join us.
Time does dissappear just like that! But your spun yarns are lovely and now practical! Holiday planning is exciting, especially when the weather is a bit grey!
